Total Cost & Complete Parts List to Single Turbo your N54!

I'll include the parts list below, but for a detailed description of why you need certain things, you'll have to watch the video at the bottom.
------------ Here is the video. Yes, it's 20 minutes long. Loved the Tourettes guy part. Never seems like you dump money until you add it up. But its all worth it for the enjoyment you get and fun with friends. I'll have to look back at this when i go 6466 st. Get going on merch, we need shirts!

This video is good stuff .. Looks like I am going down this rabbit hole ST KIT from Doc Race with Spec 3+ SMFW. Most of the major maintenance has been completed on this car within the last 2 years of ownership.
If you can break down your list in three stages when doing the ST KIT, what would the first phase MUST DO on your list, followed by second phase and third. For example - first Phase: JB4 and MDH or custom tune, LPFP?, Port Injectors ? etc .. I think most guys who are doing the ST Kit won't have $16K to drop at once. It would be a cool way to check off the boxes as we go! By the way you mentioned chargepipe but didn't the Doc Race kit included it? Here is the list from their website including Aluminum Intercooler Charge Pipe Parts list: Precision Turbo, (2) Tial MVS Wastegates (comes with all springs), DOC Race Stainless Multi-Piece V-Band Manifold, 3" Stainless Upper Downpipe, 3" Lower Downpipe (connects to factory location exhaust), V-Band Clamps, (2) Stainless Dump Tubes, 2.5" Aluminum Intercooler Charge Pipe, 2.5" Silicone Couplers / Clamps, 4" Shorty Filter, 5/8" Oil Drain Line Hose, Heat shield, T4 Turbo Gasket, (6) OEM Style Doughnut Gaskets, (4) 10x1.25 Studs / Nuts, -4an Oil Feed Line Kit, Coolant Block Offs & Oil Feed Adapter Fitting, CNC Coolant Pipe / Hardware, Coolant Tank Relocation Bracket, Coolant Hose To Waterpump / Hose Clamps, 5/8" Silicone Hose To Coolant Tank / 5/8" Barb Fittings / Hose Clamps, (2) 2-Bolt exhaust Gaskets / Nuts / Bolts, 10 ft Silicone Vacuum Hose, (3) Vaccuum Tees, DOC Race Turbo Blanket Big fan of your videos!

Great vid and information. I'm sure this is very helpful to those looking to go ST.
I couldn't help but notice how much of your list comprised of Amazon purchases. |

It's hard to break this whole process down into three stages. I kept it to two stages in the video. I would start with everything in the "NECESSARY PARTS" section for around $7,000, plus something to tune the car. Next up would be a proper clutch (if you're manual), an upgraded intercooler and proper fuel pump(s) depending on your power goals and local fuel access. Good maintenance and upgrade PCV/OCC would be good at this point too. Hope that helps! Quote:
Yes - I linked a lot of parts to Amazon for a couple reasons. About 80% of the time, parts are actually cheaper on Amazon vs. elsewhere. Plus, I'm an avid Prime user and I'm sure others are too. Fast shipping. I do have an affiliate account and receive a very small percentage if people purchase after clicking my links. It takes a lot of time and effort to compile these videos and blog posts, it's nice to get a tiny kickback every once in a while. Thanks for the support everyone!

How long did it take to install the single turbo kit? Im looking to replace my turbos but im not confident I will be able to DIY it cause Im not mechanically inclined enough. The job seems to be extremely hard especially on jackstands. FYI the only things I have DIY'ed on my car is a chargepipe upgrade, 7" FMIC upgrade, and the waterpump/thermostat.

Awesome video. I love the up beat attitude. I'm just curious any idea how much power your making? Any dyno video's in the works? I think you nailed it on as far as selecting the right exterior mods as well. One of the hottest 1 series I've seen. It's done very tastefully and not over the top. Is that an M-Sport Front bumper with lip with M side skirts. Is that an M Sport rear bumper as well?

Obviously if your motor is good, I would just install the kit from the bottom by removing the subframe (like I did when I installed hybrid turbos). I had help from my friend who is a BMW technician. Since the weather is shit where I live, we had all winter to tinker away on it. I'd say it took a solid 40 hours to do it right, but we weren't moving at the fastest pace either. If you're worried about it, call around to a local indy shop that you trust and get a quote. Thanks man! Right now on ~18psi, it's probably just shy of 550whp. I haven't dyno'd it yet, but will in a couple weeks. I'll be doing pulls at various boost levels until I exceed 700whp. Subscribe to my YouTube channel to see when that happens!
