335is clutch install question

Getting ready to put in my new 335is clutch from ecs and was reading through the bentley manual and one of the first things it says is:

"Use special tools for removing and installing self-adjusting clutch (SAC). The SAC pressure plate uses a wedge ring which rotates against the diaphragm springs to accommodate for clutch disc wear. The wedge ring adjusts by means of spring tensions so special tools are needed to apply and relieve spring tension as the clutch pressure plate is removed and installed."

Of all the DIY's I've read, I've never heard of anyone mentioning these special tools. Can I get by without them or is there a makeshift way to do it without them?

Also, how are u guys breaking in new clutches, just go easy for the first 400 miles or so?

Anything else I should know before tackling this job? I do have the alignment tool....

You don't need the tools to remove the old clutch if you are not planning to reuse it. Otherwise you'll need the tools to reset the clutch into the installation position. Is the new clutch conventional or self adjusting?

I'm not sure, it's the stock clutch for the 335is shown here:

The sales guy never mentioned it one way or the other which is not all together surprising....

The new clutch comes with a lock plate holding it in the initial installation position. Bolt everything up with the alignment tool and remove the lock plate and you'll be good to go. No special tools needed.

Used a hammer and screw driver to knock it counter clockwise to have it shoot loose
