I have made my appointment with Mckenna BMW in s.cal for coming monday. Lets see what they can do. I went there last week, they just simply made " adjustment " to the brake. They found out the noise is coming off from rear right. The noise was gone for 3 days or so and now its BACK. It is very frustrated to hear this noise coming out from a $40000+ car.

This is perhaps a useless pile-on, but my brakes do exactly the same thing. It doesn't seem to hamper the braking power (i.e. I love those brakes), but the noise is annoying, and having my wife complaint about it to me makes it doubly so (i.e. "you bought a 50K BMW and it makes noises my 15K Honda never did???").
I've been through the same clean-cycle others have mentioned, but the noise came back (2 days for me, perhaps because I tracked the car right after the fix, and the sound came back the following Monday). ... |

my dealer said "could not duplicate the problem" the drove the car one mile on the odometer and I specifically told them it happens after about 15 - 20 minutes of driving.
What pisses me off is...If my car were off warranty and I asked them to investigate..Then, I am sure they would have a few repairs in mind to fix the squeak issue and pass me a big bill.

squeaky brake pad issue. calvino says his dealer replaced the brake pad sensor and this fixed the problem. brake pad sensor was apparently rubbing on the rotor.

Well we took my car in on Monday to get the squeaking fixed and they basically said that there is a glaze build up on both the back brakes, but there is not enough to replace the rotor under warranty. So in essence I have to pay to have the rotor replaced to maybe fix the problem.

I hate that I am back to this thread again after only 2 months.
About 2 months ago, my dealer replaced the rotors, brake pads, and brake pad sensors in an attempt to fix the low speed squeaking sound. They have "cleaned" the brakes on at least 3 prior occasions. Initially, the squeaking was gone, but I am noticing it coming back again. Its not nearly as bad as it used to be, but it is gradually getting louder! I have 25k miles on my car and probably no more than 2-3k miles since having the brakes replaced (everything but the caliper, essentially). Sure the car drives and brakes perfectly, but I have NEVER had this type of sound come from any car I've ever owned (not even when I was driving a 10 year old Mazda RX7 with 140k miles). Has anyone successfully got the sound to go away permanently? My dealer has really bent over backwards to try to solve the problem, but I am starting to feel like this is an exercise in futility.

Add me to the list as well, around 3500miles, 335i, hopefully the dealer will do something instead of just cleaning the brake dust
I'm curious to see how many people have this issue, its starting to get annoying and it generally seems to be coming from the rear in most cases - explanations include brake wear sensor rubbing, e-brake, rust on the hub |

yep same problem here, they replaced the brake pads under warrenty but wanted me to replace rotors $699 and i said no since my car has 14,000km
i brought this up with the service manager that i read that all you guys are having the same problem and he told me not to beleive everything i read and that bmw hasnt sent out anything that this is an issue. This appears to be a large issue and i feel pretty helpless i shelled out all this cash and now have to replace more parts because they are too incompitent to realize they have made a mistake. Anyways my squeek is back after 1000k of replacing the pads |

Don't waste your money buying new rotors. Mine were replaced (thankfully under warranty), but the squeak came back in about 2-3k miles. A tech at my dealer went for a ride with me and definitely heard the sound. They have either cleaned or replaced everything except for the calipers, but it keeps coming back.

I took my car in this morning to ride with the shop foreman so he could hear the squeak, of course there was no traffic this today so the squeak magically disappeared. Now I have to setup another appt for after work so that the fking annoying squeal will be in full effect, it's disheartening to hear that people who have had various brake components replaced are seeing a return of the issue, and it's even more depressing that with all this great brake technology like brake drying and standby they can't get the damn things to stop squealing on acceleration!

how did you get them to cover it under warrenty? they were even accusing me of brake stands and that the rotors were blue, but when i went back they magicaly dissapeared. so what are we supposed to do just sit back and wait?

Now I have 25k miles and the squeaking is back. The only thing I've noticed is that this seems to more common for people who do a lot of city (stop and go) type driving.

19K miles and it squeaks like some old school bus, very annoying but breaks still work fine.

The dealer did the same for me. At first they said everything was fine, until I drove one of the techs around for twenty minutes, and it finally started squeeling, so he got out and listened to it. They said it was the sensor contacting the rotor, and they replaced the pads and the sensor. So glad I was able to get it to squeel. So now the sound is gone. We'll see if it is fixed for good.
