DTUK - Tuning Modules. Anyone got one of these?

Hi All,

I have just been talking with the nice chaps at DTUK about there tuning modules. Really helpful on the phone and nothing was to much trouble, I am really tempted to go for this as it offers the best of both worlds.
As I have a 2010 325D with the new 204PS engine I want to be able to swap between original map and performance map without any problems. However with the new encrypted ECU it not that easy without visiting the tuner every time. So the DTUK CRD-T gives me everything I need with easy removal when I need to.

Has anyone tried any of the DTUK modules, in particular the CRD-T?

It would be good to know how the car felt after installation. I am 95% sure i am going to go for this but you kinda always want to ask someone who has done it already, £350+ is still a largish outlay which ever way you look at it.

Thanks in advance

D

I have the CRD-T on my 335d, i've recently had it rolling roaded too
286 / 430 in standard guise - now running 340 / 510 with the CRD-T

Been faultless for nearly 30,000 miles on this car, and 20,000 on the last 335d also

Once you install it, you take a drive, reasonably steady, for afew miles, give the cars ecu chance to get use to it's new parameters - then go for it, you'll notice the difference !!

here's my graph :

I also have one on my 335d. Very impressed, works very well, and as you've gathered great for a completely removable mod.

They aren't as easy to fit as you'd think. Don't get me wrong, it's not hard (at all) but it is a good 15mins to put on tidily, and another 15mins to remove. That's not much of a pain though is it?

Get some 5x200mm (i think) black cable ties. I carry them for work so not sure on the size. Get a velcro self adhesive pad to stick the actual module down too. Plan where everything is going to sit, and go for it. The ties make the cabling look a lot better. You'll also need a hex socket to get the engine cowl off, can't remember the size, again carry them for work so didn't pay attention.
The instructions on the web and in the box are pretty clear.

Thanks,il have a look at sizing it up today.
Did lots of bits on my last car,so i'm hoping it will be as straight forward.
I know it's not as involved with this car,but I left the remaps to the experts-fingers crossed!

Thanks for the response all. Much appreciated, I think this will have to be one of my purchases for next month.

One quick question, when I was speaking with DTUK they said I would need to try the different maps that come with the box. I think he said there were 4 of them to choose from. So my question is did you run through each map? And if so how long did you run each map for?

Cheers

Reading through the instructions, they say that you should start of with the basic (ie no increase in power) map and do a test drive.
You will be looking for increased smoke, warning lights etc.
If all ok, you increase the map and in turn the power by 10% and test drive again.
20% test drive and then final increase...
This is for the crd-t that I've got-but not fitted yet.

I have just had a chat with Andrew at DTUK and I now have a RED on its way.

Due to budget limitations and the figures i can get from a Red module I went with this approach instead of the CRD-T. I should still see some significant improvements based on the information I was supplied with.

I will let you know how it goes, I will post my results in the DTUK sticky link.

Thanks for all your feedback.

is yours a 320 if it is then you have the older engine with the air filter alongside the engine block I would drop Andrew an email as you need to ensure you have the right coding on your box and he can send you the manual for that engine as well

320d 177 SE DTUK tuning box red fitted - 40,000 miles on

I've had my 320d SE DTUK tuning box red fitted - 40,000 miles on and it's still working great. Much more power and economy and I keep it on a medium setting and doing me proud still.

I've been using a CRD-T since early 2011 on a 177hp 320d and have had no problems with it so far (22k km and counting). As someone already mentioned it does take some effort to install and remove it but the performance improvement is significant.

Also Andrew's support has been exemplary, highly recommended.

Have the CRD-T on my 320d. Bought it off Bbsboy. I am very happy with the results. I initially wanted a remap but my ECU was locked. I am happier with this route cause you can select the type of map that you want. E.G if I have it on setting 1 + 10% i feel it has more torque on lower RPM, If I have it on map setting 2 +10% there is less torque on lower RPM but there is more power on the higher RPM.
