Oregon DP install

So, I am looking for the most experienced shop that has dealt with the n54 platform. I have talked to:

PSI in Hillsboro said 1.5-2 hrs
Forged Performance in Troutdale 2.5 hrs
Adrenaline Racing in Lake Oswego not sure they will install catless
Pacific Motorsports in Portland, left message... waiting to hear back.
BVA Motorsports in Hillsboro, never done DP's
Boyd Motorwerks in NE PDX, never done DP's
Kevin Boyd in PDX, left message...
ProTek in Milwaukie, 1.5hrs, have done many, winner winner pumpkin dinner!

I was making this list as I was calling shops. Forged and Protek came from a recommendation of Horsepowerfreaks. Has anyone had work done by Protek in Milwaukie? He said he has a 335 in the shop right now getting some UR dp's installed...

B,

I think either Protek or Forged Performance would be okay for just a DP install......So I guess it comes down to who's the cheapest, huh?

it is not about the cheapest, I wanted to go with the shop that has the most experience with our cars. Forged has only done the one set (yours) and ProTek has done several sets. Price is always a concern, but in the end I want to make sure the person I am having install my parts knows how to do it properly.

As far as 503 goes, I would not take my car there for a couple reasons.

1st being, they did not call me back when I inquired on a quote for some work.

2nd is, I think they are more into doing Blazers Escalades than performance mods. thats my .02

I was recommended the same by HPF. Unless my SA hooks me up with a nice discount to come somewhat close to ProTek's quote for a coilover install, I'll probably bring my car to them. Doesn't seem like Forged's specialty is BMW, but then again cars are cars to some extent...

Keep us updated on who you pick and how it goes.

Thanks for the great input everyone. The cars you all have are some of the best cars to work on.

+1

That's my 335i currently in the shop. I have the thermal coated AR 3" DPs currently installed. Pro Tek is definitely the way to go - friendly, reliable service and real car enthusiasts hands down.

No issues; plenty of clients running it. Call me at the store tomorrow if you want to talk about it.

I had you "BMW" remove the tune for "over boost issues and AFR issue" after removing the tune the dyno showed the same power with great AFR and now I'm dealing with a bad turbo waste gate from over boost...

"Bad turbo waste gate" This is from over boost aka "Dinan software"

Hey Mike,

Yep, so after all this research and finding out about your shop, I decided not to do the mods to my 335. Maybe down the road, I ended up getting an S2000 to play with instead of my DD.

I plan on having my 335 for a while so eventually I will be in, as you have come highly recommended! Hopefully this post has brought you some biz.

No problem the S2000 is a great car to play with . You should think about just software for the 335i / DD.
