Less fuel pump failures
Over the last month the number of posts regarding fuel pump failures has dramatically decreased. I have noticed this on at least three BMW forums. With few exceptions it seems that the fuel pump failures were mostly on the 2006 build dates. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

They only take 1-2 hrs to install, but takes 30+ days to get the part in. |

work correctly as far as...start or while driving?
while driving is bad... i.e., loss of pressure which results in low flow during heavy engine demand. |

nice compensation!!
does anyone know the supplier of the high pressure pump? Bosch, Siemens, Hitatchi? Basically when the high pressure pump fails, you are relying on low-side fuel pump pressure which is probably 4-7bar which is certainly not enough considering during normal operation its 4-12Mbar. Obviously the injectors are designed to open with 4-12Mbar, not .4-.7Mbar. Limp-home mode = bad, potential walk home. |

I wish I had my car back. It has been three weeks. No BMW Loaner either. I have Chrysler 300 which is not bad, but I want a BMW Loaner. I get the same song and dance about them changing fleets, etc.

FWIW, BMWNA claims the HPFP is fixed in "newer" cars. They wouldn't give me an exact build date as a cutoff but I know that 2007 build dates have the problem also.

I thought it was March 07'?
I would certainly hope that BMW has this problem fixed by now. I'm still waiting for an 08' model just to be safe, plus the new 16 speaker stereo doesn't hurt either.. |
