New FP for me, ethanol the culprit?

Two nights ago my car had a long crank and pulled a check engine light. It then started stalling when it wasn't in load. I had the car towed to the dealership and they confirmed it was the fuel pump today.

My SA said that the reason my pump went out was a high concentration of ethanol in my last tank of fuel. He didn't give me any specifics, just that the HPFP's are having a hard time dealing with the ethanol in our (US) gas.

Just thought I would share

ORB has mentioned ethanol as the culprit in the failures.

Damn that's the first I've heard of ethanol as the problem for these failures...

@OP: What brand/octane do you currently pump?

Don't think you can 100% blame the ethanol.

I have had mine replaced here in Aus only recently and we don't have ethanol in our fuel, unless you buy E10.

My second one I think is starting to go as well, am getting similar symptoms that occurred before the 1st one stuffed up.

It may not be the main culprit but I bet it does not help.
