For you guys having issues programming the BT buttons. Did you read the AWSC manual? Once auto detection is done and the LED goes solid, it says you have to then press pickup/hangup and the LED should go out within 3 seconds if those buttons are able to be used. Then the BT buttons are programmed.
Might save a bit of headache over custom mapping them. |

finally have my deck set up how i want...
parrot asteroid smart <--> connects2 cthbm01 (i think ctsbm006 is the same part and cheaper) <--> speaker/line adapter <--> bmw harness <--> HIFI amp i cut into the speaker output from the cthbm01 to put in the speaker/line adapter so i get a good level both for the head unit audio and also for reverse beeps for parking assist (works great!) i had to swap the left rear/right rear as the connects2 part was wired backwards. part ctasteroidlead going between the cthbm01 and the parrot gives me what seems to be fully functional steering wheel controls, though the voice command button is working as play/pause, and i haven't yet tested the phone button. i'm into the install for more than i'd like... radio $479, cthbm01 $130 from a less-than-reputable US dealer, ctasteroidlead 15 quid from an awesome UK dealer (who would've charged me half as much for the cthbm01), line out converter $15, mounting kit maybe $25 or so. But it sounds great and the steering wheel controls work every time and.. yay |

The diagram in OP lists the Switched 12V as being wired to the cigarette lighter. Is this actually required? Anything else I've seen always just wires the switched 12V to the Metra harness. But I seem to be missing switched voltage and my unit will not turn on.

Thanks. I've got 2 "add a fuse" taps on the way. Just need some free time to finish up this never ending install. Amazing that nobody knew this was required when I posted up a new thread wondering why I couldn't get my headunit to fire up.

I have an 06 e90 and the H/U does not power up unless the car is running, althought the deck comes on.
As far as the H/U is concerned, I just used the constant 12V in and ran a switch off to the side so I can run it and 2 after market amps with the car completely OFF. NO more Battery notification and I can run it for hours.. Nice write up and Thx for the input. ! |

The 12 volt line to the hi fi amp is switched when the car wakes/sleeps
for the Hi Fi at least . Technic uses this link to run the signal on the relay he provides in the Hi Fi harness. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138949 I don't think this is the same 12 volts that goes to the radio as there are separate fuses for the radio and amp I recall. I think that the Metra Harness diagram explains it. Last edited by ctuna; 05-30-2018 at 08:39 PM.. |

I know it's a very delayed response to an old post... but might be helpful for those reading this now:

It's been several years, but I think there's a purple (or purple/grey) wire near the driver footwell that goes live with key insert. I used that with a relay to create my "trigger" wire for my full setup (aftermarket HU, amps). It used to annoy me that after driving the car, I'd have to keep the engine running if I was midway through a BT call, or just wanted to listen to tunes for a bit longer. Even though you can hit the start button without clutch/brake to start car sans engine... when you're done driving, there's no way to keep the car on without engine running, without first turning the car off... which for me would mean disconnecting my BT (HU turns off), and waiting for deck to reboot (this was an older deck that took 30s for bootup). SO MUCH HAPPIER after doing the trigger with key fob insert
