I wouldn't buy any products from them after reading all their reviews and experiences from this forum. Looks nice though

Just sharing smth new for n52. At least an intake is less cost than a supercharger that was a lemon

they say their intakes have some kind of flapper/variable valve...

Yes it looks really nice! I agree on that, weight reduction is also a good thing always for our cars.

So Lucy you gots some splane'n to do... Why do we need a variable air intake flap in the air box when the motor has that built into the intake? I'm speaking of us that have a 3 stage intake from the factory. I mean is there something to do with torque...? Even so where is this magic air coming from? I don't see a boot or anything to pull air from the lower inlet like a cold air scoop. The under the hood temps are terrible on the e9x considering all of the pans plates and midgets they use to guard the bottom of the car. As well for what they are going to charge for the intake just buy the euro 330i intake

Btw it looks like that valve is in the middle of the filter? It looks like you can hook a vacuum hose up to it when you zoom in on it.. Does this mean at high RPMs it's ok it suck in dirt?

I was thinking the same way. Their description is poor and even hints a the air filter being stainless steel mesh...with regular filter an option

Not sure about what triggers the flap function. But it looks like a TB inside the cone...

EDIT:::

ARMA is going to release a new product you've never seen before.
The variable cold air intake features an inserted variable valve in the air filter.
This makes up for lost torque at low rpm while you replace your stock air filter with a modified one.
I dont think this happens on the n52... have yet to see any dyno to show this issue

I don't see any benefit over the euro intake aside from the weight savings. Euro with ram air might be useful though. If I had some skill I would try that.

You save maybe 3 lbs if that. Leave a gallon of gas out of it and you will save more weight. Sprung weight is a bigger scavenger on run flat BMW's anyway. The rims are made out of omgheavium.

The purpose of the flapper valve is when this is installed in conjunction with their supercharger it acts like a safety feature. When the supercharger explodes the flapper valve closes to prevent prices of the supercharger from entering the engine. Very smart!!!

HAHAHA @ omgheavium. I like that, I might use it sometime. If you think these Bimmer wheels are heavy (can't say I've looked up how much they weight), take a look at VW's Huffeisen or Detroit wheels. Those were some real fun when I used to swap them back and forth for winter/spring seasonal changes. I think the wheels alone were about 30 lb each.

Back to the original topic: Intake looks nice! I actually like that it has a flat finish. How's it sound?

Doesn't the e9x have a functioning ram air scoop in the middle that leads directly to the filter?

I was curious for how much do they sell this air box, so I asked.
CF air box with scoops and filter $1,121
CF air box with variable air intake $1,744

Paus $$$ to ship to the USA then have to pay import duty on it for a POS system that looks cool with a stainless steel mesh pool screen filter.
