I'm just curious....are you not going to just let your insurance company deal with it? If that be the case, why not?

i would and am...however, i had just raised my deductible from 250-1000 last month. so...when i get check from insurance im going to try and get some parts cheaper than what they estimate to save on the deductible. and also why not upgrade?

OK. I'm assuming the estimated total cost of the repair is something less than or very close to $1000 given that you've said what you did for if it's significantly more ($300+) it won't make any difference to you. You still have to pay $1000. If it's close to $1000, you can save whatever you save to the extent that it brings the total cost below $1000. Savings are savings, and I haven't yet seen a case where savings were a bad thing. (I said $300+ only because that's what I am guessing is the most you could reasonably expect to save by buying the parts yourself, if you can save even that much and be certain the body shop can use the parts you buy.)

I presume you already inquired with the body shop and found that they will accept parts you provide rather than parts they procure? I'm saying that because some won't.

FWIW, I'm fairly certain you can't buy parts more cheaply than can the body shop because they buy at wholesale, but you might be able to if you can find a sufficiently motivated private party, so nothing's lost by asking here on the forum. Even so, that's not the point. What I wanted to suggest is that you ask the body shop how much they intend to charge you for the respective parts and try to negotiate the price down with them.

I'm not saying they'll do it, but I can guarantee you they won't if you don't ask them to. If you let them think you are paying out of pocket for the repair, you may have a better shot at haggling successfully if they think the insurance company is paying. Don't lie per se, just tell them you want to have the repair done and you think at that moment that you will just pay for it out of pocket rather than filing a claim with your insurance company. That way you leave the door open to change your mind and go with the insurance company at a later point in time, and you've not lied to them.

Now, since you are thinking you may pay out of pocket, you are certainly entitled to have them give you quotes on the price of the parts and labor, if for no other reason, because you want to compare with other body shops. Regardless of what they say, tell them it seems high and that you want to look around at the competition. Once you have the prices, you then have an empirical basis for measuring the benefits of whatever direction you finally select, including which body shop to use.

All the best and sorry to hear you are even in this situation.

EDIT:
I forgot to mention that in my experience with body shops, the initial estimate the insurance companies make is invariably less -- indeed by no small sum -- than what the actual cost ends up being. If you want the headache of filing additional claims with your insurer once you have the total cost in hand (or out of your pocket as it were), that's your choice. I for one have found it easier to just pay my deductible to the body shop and let them and the insurance company deal with the rest, including cost estimate revisions.

thanks for the advice! its definitely going to be more than a 1000$ to get it repaired. hood is damaged, grills, passenger fender, bumper, headlight is basically gone, radiator will need replaced(the cyba scoops are well in the radiator lol) and who knows what else under the hood. cant pop the hood open. And I havent talked to body shop yet but, a friend of mine his dad owns a body shop and also a body shop i used to take my other car would do it as they have before. so even if i save 100$ its still 100$ and possibly get after market ya know? caz theyre going to write me a check and if it includes in the estimate as say 600$ for hood and i find one for 300$ thats 300$ off right there and so on. if that makes sense???

So im trying to get it without having to pay full deductible if at all by using extra cash from their estimates.
