2007 E90 Professional to Navi Retrofit

Hey all,

First, I want to apologize for being an iDrive noob. Not having iDrive myself, I don't browse this subform a lot.

I have a 2008 E92 with navi which I am considering removing the Navi from to retrofit into my 2007 E90 (Professional stereo, no bluetooth/voice or USB).

I found this old thread (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131416) in which the OP retrofitted Navi into his 2007 E90.

In the above thread, he had to splice wires into some of his modules. Has this changed at all? Are there PNP harnessess that are available now?

Is my car pre-wired for this stuff? The alarm system was pre-wired.

The main issue that the OP had in that thread was coding the VO, which is easy enoguh using NCS. Will I have a problem coding the VO using used modules from an E92 (ie. VIN mismatch issues or similar?).

I know I have to install the Nav module and TCU/MULF unit (due to my lack of bluetooth/usb), will the audio unit need to be swapped as well?

Any help is appreciated.

Answers:
Yes you would be doing such as the OP of the thread you posted.

1. No and no. But the OP did try to maintain OEM connections. Harness you have to make yourself or you could have it done at a vendor.

2. The car never came with iDrive system so no prewire.

3. The issue the OP had back then (2008) was that all this coding info and software was not all available compare to now. Change VO as you see fit for your retrofit.
You do however have to code the CCC unit to your car options. Like dislikes and the whole bang bang.

4. Tcu and MULF are accepted by the CCC unit. Audio unit does not need to be swapped but you could port those over from the donor car if it gives you better audio. I don't know how to but it can be done.

I haven't done the retrofit either but I've read that thread and I am tempted to do it.
