What to do in UK?
First time UK visitor looking for some advice. My schedule is still pretty open so I am wondering if anyone could offer advice on things to see and do (motoring related or not). Current agenda includes Festival of Speed and perhaps a Morgan factory tour and Heritage Motor Museum. Location is not too important as I plan to hire a car and eventually make my way up to Scotland. Thanks

Make sure you plan a drive from Glasgow to Inverness via Fort William (A82). You will drive through scenery that you will talk about about for ever and a day once you get back home. Just try and pick a decent day!

I'll second that, but before continuing to Inverness, I'd recommend you take a return trip on the stunning A830 from Fort William to Mallaig.

Fantastic roads in your neck of the woods too, but more awareness required if you want to keep a clean licence. I was driving south of Bala recently and I saw a motorcycle cop with a speed gun hidden in the entrance to a farm track, just around a blind corner. He'd also parked his bike completely out of view to oncoming traffic; so much for the story about them having to be visible!!

Thanks for the tips. I didn't even think about what roads to take, but I will try to visit those mentioned.
Any preferences on car hire companies with decent cars? I was just going to go for the cheapest option, but then I read somewhere about people getting a 500 abarth. |
