Hey guys, I just ordered a cobb tuner online. My car has 69k miles, I'm going to go with the stage I drive. Is there anything I should do to the car before I install the tuner to make sure my engine runs smoothly?

How old are your spark plugs? If you did the maintenance at 45k then I would replace now that you are on 69k.

Don't you have access to 93 octane? Run sport and Agg. Dude. You can skip the Drive if you like.

Well for stage one drive the stock intake is fine. But I would at least upgrade your drop in filter or go to DCI. Especially if you go to Agg.

Yeah, that's very much a normal boost curve.

Thanks for the responses, another quick question is, I read that the Stage 2 Aggressive maps need 93 or greater octane and 91 is for sport, we only have 92 octane around here in WA, are the aggressive maps still okay for me?

Sport probably, not so sure on Agg.

I hate to ask the noob Cobb question, but here it goes:

I'm bringing my car in for the battery cable recall next week, can I just put it on Map 0 or do I need to uninstall it completely? I guess the better question is... what happens if it's in map 0, and they go to flash the ECU with some random update?

i believe you answered your own question. What was 1 of the reasons you got the COBB? Because of its easy uninstall....

safe than sorry. Are you running any blends? It can be a PITA becuase you have to clean out your tank, uninstall, dealer visit, blend fuel again, and install COBB again.

EDIT:
oh wait, i saw your mods, you got bigger things than a Tune. LOL.. maybe leaving in the tune isn't so bad MAP 0. but I don't believe they have to mess with the DME to do the cable recall.

Does anybody know exactly what the recall is? All it seems is they remove the battery cable from the engine bay? i got mine done and that what it appears. and or rerouted it?

Just to be on the safe side i would uninstall it. It's so easy that there isn't really a reason not to.

Try the aggressive map and see how the log looks. If it logs good then run aggressive if not then run sport.

Another potentially noobish question here: Does the Cobb flash change the software ID so that the dealership diagnostic computer can't communicate with the DME? Is this why (or at least one reason) uninstalling it completely/un-marrying it is suggested?

the dealership will be able to communicate and read codes/clear codes. You don't want them to flash though or have issues with flashing.

the only reason you wouldn't uninstall it is because you are lazy or going in for an oil change...

Thank you for the info. Unfortunately, I worded my question ambiguously I was referring to the read/write flash communication, not the request code command which is a much lower authority request. Has it been verified that a dealership diagnostic/programming computer is able to re-flash a DME that is programmed with a Cobb flash? Or does it log an error saying that it's an unrecognizable DME? I have reason to suspect that Cobb changes the software ID and/or the initialization code to keep their ROM from being read through OTS ROM reading devices. Would seem to be the smart thing to do when it comes to IP protection.

I uninstall my COBB For Oil Changes. Something may come up, "oh Mr. Marquez, we got a new DME Flash Upgrade for you, let's do it while we have you in for an oil change"
