bit of a paradox there because what's the point of having a supercar if you have to drive it carefully

a bit of a weird discussion this.. Is it fuel economy or performance? Anyway:
- i like my E92 diesel for fast cruising and fairly sportly driving
- before that i drove an F104 Starfighter with something like 10-20.000+ bhp (didn't have to pay the fuel though :-)
- If I want real fun now i take my BMW 1200GS bike, no need for more then 100bhp on winding roads unless you only want to go on boaring straight roads. Have yet to see a super bike which' driver can stay up with me :-)

You guys are making me sick - presumeably with envy. My straight forward 215 mile trip down to Harrogate on Saturday morning only got me 44.8mpg (under 80 the whole way). The 150 mile trip to Whitby and back - all on B roads really - a mixture of traffic queues and thrashing it on overtaking chances - saw no change. Nor did the 215 miles back up to Glasgow.

I have only once got over 50mpg from a tank. It would appear that I wasted my money getting a diesel. Over the last four months I only travelled about 500 miles a month and the vast majority of the days when I did drive, was 2 mile trips - with the result that I got down to 36mpg. I don't seem to have really reaped the benefit of the so called great economy.

Next time it's a petrol six!
