What are the best 4" Component speakers?

Hi all!

Firstly thanks to kaigoss69 for compiling a list of 4" speakers that will fit into the BMW stock mountings my question is which set is the best I know this is a subjective question but I'm look for opinions.

I have used Focal before and been happy with them but looking at the specs of the 100VRS a RMS power of 40W doesn't sound like allot I might be wrong.

Here is the list that kaigoss69 provided.

Morel, Rainbow and Focal are all highly regarded. Are you planning on using a DSP, like MS-8 or BitOne? If yes, you can get away with middle-of-the-road speakers from the above companies (or others), as the DSP will help overcome the speakers' shortcomings. If you plan on using no DSP however, then you have no choice but to go for an expensive speaker set, if you want the best possible SQ.

How is the 4" speaker from Jehnert flatline series compare to these speakers? It is almost twice as expensive as Rainbow.

Rainbow is a reputable speaker company (probably one of the best there are), and some of their speakers happen to fit our cars. Jehnert makes speakers that are custom-built for our cars, but the quality (for the 4" components) has not been proven. Both carry a premium, one because it is makes high-quality products for the masses, the other because it makes a custom-fit product for a very small market. While I have not heard the Jehnerts, my gut would tell me to go with the Rainbows.

Has anybody tried a full range set of Jehnerts

tweeters,4 inch and underseats ? (As displayed on there site)

They are listed on there web site

I understand that Morel , Focals and Rainbows all have something(that might fit) but
they do have different strengths.
I was told the Focals are kind of harsh
the rainbows have a better tweeter ( I think)
and the Morels have a more balanced full range sound and also play a
bit lower than the Focals.

Can anybody verify that?

Is it true that BSW speakers are made by Rainbow? I remember reading that in a thread...

I'm not going to use a DSP seems overkill for two channels.

I had a quick look on the web and all that seems to come up when I look for 4" components are Focals and Ground Zero but I've never really heard of Ground Zero any opinions on them?

I live in the UK before any one gives me a list of US websites ICE seems to be a little unloved in the UK

I've been looking into my speaker options and it looks like most US sites will ship to my little island so suggest away on possible speakers.

I also like the idea of DSP after looking into it a bit more but the bit one and MS8 are very expensive what are my other options for tuning a pair of front components and a pair of Earthquake SWS-8 woofers

I do not have enough experience to know what is the "best"

I can say that I was highly impressed with my Rainbow SLC set, even surprised how good they sound.

From that list, would really like to try to Rainbow Vanadiums or the Zapcos but the Zapcos have been discontinued for awhile now and it seems that finding used ones are not easy. I wish I had jumped on them when I had a chance.

I have been trying to decide between the Jehnert flatkline series or Rainbow SLC + SWS 8 combo. Price differential is about $300. Any thought?

I've had a look on the Jehnerts web site and they don't seem to have speaker sets on there, I might be wrong.

Which are a good set for around the £250 mark for the Jehnerts?

They mod your door card to take 3 larger speakers, replace your 4inch speaker, tweeter and under seat sub. It looks like a good kit and you get allot of speakers for your money but I like the oem look and I'm only looking to replace the 4inch speaker and the tweeter.

This is their flatline series I was talking about, 2 woofers, 2 drivers and 2 tweeters with spacers. You don't have to mod the OEM look.
