Didn't the Titanic set sail from Southampton bound for NYC? This is the same route except Titanic sank April 14, 1912 after a long winter of icebergs building up in the North Atlantic. This time of year, the bergs had all summer to melt down, plus as Al Gore puts it, the planet has a fever, so we needn't worry about icebergs anymore.

Liberty IS the Faust

I think we are on schedule according to what dates/stops were laid out on the WW site.

I just don't see the leg from Southampton to NYC lasting from the 12th to the 22nd. I don't know if they are padding the schedule to account for storms or what, but it usually only takes about 6-7 days for this leg, so that would put the arrival around the 19th. I am betting that she will dock in NYC on the 20th which is 2 days ahead of schedule. It may not matter very much because the 21st is a Sunday and I don't think the VPC is open for business. I am pretty sure they work on Saturday.

The good news is I don't see it docking in NYC beyond the 22nd, which is a Monday and then the cars that get dropped off will get on carriers and head off to the dealerships shortly thereafter.

The last time I went through this, my car got discharged from the ship on the 26th, then it arrived at the dealer pre-dawn on the morning of the 28th. This ship was scheduled to arrrive on the 27th so it was a day early. I distinctly remember that it only took around a week to go from Southampton to NYC and thats with a stop in Halifax. The ship was FAUST last time, different ships probably do vary a bit speedwise.
If I'm not mistaken, the Liberty is actually the Faust. Purchased by another company and re-named, along with a few other ships to sound more "American". Anyone care to confirm this? Anyway, I hope you're right about the schedule. I'd love to get my car a few days earlier.

Looks like Liberty is docked in South Hampton...
Click here if you want to see Sat imaging of the ship and the cars/containers on the docks.. Pretty cool
http://www.ais-live.co.uk/AIS%20Live/aissolent.html

This image is delayed so the Liberty may already be underway and headed to the US

Nice Link! Thanks! Liberty is scheduled to be underway at 19:00, which is 2pm EST. Once its underway and in open water, I hope this site can follow it for a bit becuase they display the speed in knots, which will be cool to know. Maybe we can guesstimate arrival date if we divide the speed into the 3500 miles or so it needs to cover to get to NYC.

I still think it gets to NYC earlier than 10/22 scheduled date by at least 2 days.

Anybody getting anxious?

This site should be able to track the Liberty until it leaves the English Channel... at which time we'll have to use:
http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/index.html

which based on other posts here, only works if the Liberty voluntarily participates in the WMO-VOS program.

Anxious, more like obsessive...

Based on what my CA told me could take 2-3 days IF your car is on the top of the ship, otherwise 3-7 if its closer tot he bottom.

I 'm pretty sure if the Liberty arrives around 10/20 I think you have a good chance of picking it up that Sat... Thats at least what im hoping for too
If not, im gonna take a day off work for pick-up

The certificate of origin can delay delivery. BMW sends this certificate separate from the car. I think they use regular snail mail. It seems common for the certificate to arrive a few days after the car gets to the dealer's lot. In Mass, the title and reg cannot be created until the COO is in the dealers hand. This varies from state to state, and many states have temporary plates so it doesn't apply, but Mass does not have temp plates, so I had my car sitting on the lot for 4 days until the COO arrived in the mail. It was very frustrating.

Thanks for the info, EastCoast335i and dmichael. The wait isn't actually that bad. Work and football kills a lot of time.

I would've went crazy if my car was sitting at the dealer's lot for 4 days and I couldn't drive it.
