I mean why only have the DCT in the coupe and 'vert....
Seems a bit daft to me....even more so as its main rival the S4 gets a DSG....

Yeah, its goto be marketing fecked-up decision. It is making me look at the S4....do you hear that BMW!
I would rather have the saloon / touring imo and of course I want the best auto gearbox in it.

It might be a staged introduction,
M3 coupe first M3 saloon second E92/93 335i third 135i Coupe fourth (or joint third maybe?) Maybe E90/91 335i fifth? Anneka?? |

I think it's more a bit of snobbery to be honest. Can't see why BMW don't offer the DCT transmission on other cars and engines. VAG stick their DSG on just about every product they have, giving them greater appeal.

They seem to start with the perceived 'premium' models to extract maximum cash for it over the longest time, then move down the range. IMO, in the 3 series marketing 'hierarchy' M3 comes first, then the coupes and verts then the utilitarian E90/1... |

You're missing the M3 Cabriolet from the above lineup,... which was the first to offer DCT

Makes sense though. You can take great car, make it heavier, slower and bendier, then charge more for it so that people can see your new wig blowing in the fresh air.... People who'd buy that need to be at the top of your customer tree! |

I wouldn't expect you to understand the appeal of convertibles, being from Manchester... but how the hell did you know I had a new wig!
