and +1 to whoever said in that other thread that when a girl makes a thread, it gets pages and pages long overnight

Hope everything works out because I would be furious if I got duped like that, not mocking her, just laughing at what usually goes on here.

So Oil Filter Housing leak cost me around $15.00 and 2 hours of my time. I think BMW repairs are not expensive at all if you are willing to DIY. I fixed multiple stuff in my car for less than $20.00 each. Any car you take to a dealer regardless to brand is going to be expensive some time worth more than the car itself. ex. my brother has a civic 2001 all beat up and the transmission failed the dealer quoted him $2k for repaired when i dont think the car is worthed $2k with 150k+ miles on it. So if you going to get a nice car better learn how to work on it if you don't want to spend a lot money on repairs otherwise get a toyota corolla!!
Thank you for youre advice =]

Those prices actually include labor, and all the parts are OEM and new.
If I were to go at my local dealership, they would have propably raped me.
Damn.... IM 100% taking it to a local shop.

But that doesn't mean all probabilities greater than 0% are equal. Anecdotes about "oh my Toyota/Honda/Lexus also had problems" mean nothing, because they are mere anecdotes. The fact is that statistically, BMWs are significantly less reliable than the mainstream Japanese cars, and the 335i especially so.

This reminds me of the Daily Show report couple years back on a high school teacher who believed that the LHC particle collider would create a black hole and destroy the earth.

John Oliver: "What do you think the chances are that the LHC will destroy the earth?"
Idiot: "I'd say 50%."
J.O: "How do you figure?"
Idiot: "Because it could happen, or it could not happen."

Yeah.

I'm not arguing that the 335 models don't have a lot of known problems. I'm just saying that a Toyota Carolla/Matrix is a piece of boring, unreliable garbage.

My most reliable car to date was my 2007 VW GTI with the BPY engine. Even though these engines have known issues (Diverter valve failure, PCV failure, cam follower failure, DSG mechatrics failure, etc.) mine was bullet-proof for 55k miles.

My point is, perceived reliability is all hype. And Corollas and Camrys are BORING and no more reliable than anything else.

I don't think their reliability is perceived.. I think it is fact and I know there are stats to back it up..

In essence its not really a warranty its basically a left over to do list. A check list lets say.
When a dealer gets a car, they do go over minor things that should be replaced or changed. The dealer i bought it from didn't do a few things, which includes rear brakes and wipers, that is it. That was told to me by BMW, so as we are typing those 2 things are being changed.

Yeah there is some law I think that says they have to change certain wear items like brakes and tires before they sell a car again.. Well at least you got them to do the pads.

Doesn't even begin to describe my feelings towards this car.

Housing gasket is leaking $1158.87
Transmission leak is $984.54

Anyone know where I can replace or get these things fixed for cheap?

As of right now, this is the first and last bmw I will buy.
Here maybe this can help... call them first and ask for a quote... do not tell them the price that you have... tell them you are on a serious budget...

It never fails, except when the engine self destruct and you are left with a $25k bill. This comparison is useless. Number of reported events, for some events cost $20 to fix, and some cost $25k.

The BMW problems are not as catastrophic, but they do cost a fair share of money to fix, everytime. Corolla problems are usually fixed on the cheap (parts and labor are less expensive).

Its only because this topic seems to piss a lot of people off. I love my car it handles excellently and is so much fun to drive, but when things start to break, it isnt much fun. I (prob like most people on here) have a love hate relationship with my car.

2007 335i is a great car... you just need to learn how to keep it in tune and know where to go... NEVER GO TO THE DEALER FOR MAINTENANCE... That's why they are called "STEALERSHIP"...

Wasn't that just with the boxster where the drive shaft would snap in half destroying your engine in the process. Porsche refuses to cover this from my understanding too outside of their warranty. Which seems to be a problem as it usually happens right around 100k.
