I don't think it's absolutely necessary. As I mentioned drag racing is really hard on the car in terms of cooling needs. I saw 9 advance when driving and the timing was fine up until 4th.
Any time you're increasing boost you should seriously consider upgraded cooling mods. Cobb lowers the timing curve and richens the afr to account for the increased boost. I'd recommend a fmic upgrade for any tune. |

Wow looks like 4th gear timing is the same as mine. Mph is a lot higher. I get that with fmic. All your logs look very similar to mine. For now i plan on running the 91 oct tune till stage ii tunes or till atr.
I agree that dci at this stage will do nothing. I verified it on the dyno. Nothing much happening there. Next step is dp's Harry Last edited by ZTUNER; 02-19-2011 at 12:35 PM.. |

Yeah. I should've but I was long overdue by the time I left. Honestly I was having a lot of fun watching the other cars and hanging out. I have this love hate thing going on with drag racing. I love to do it and get a good time but I'm crazy nervous about breaking things. I've only had this car for a short while and am trying to stay out of trouble as much as possible with mission control... You see how well that's working. It's not like I won't be back there. Probably in less than a month.

Yeah, the fmic will give me the top end back. That's how my last one was. I'm extremely pleased so far though. I wonder if the ets dps with the flex section will fit an xi... I also wonder how long it will take COBB to get rid of the ses light for going catless.

Great review man and nice meeting you. Just so you know, I weighed my car while I was there too and w/o me it was 3595 w/ 1/3 of a tank and no weight reduction except 20lbs from the rear wheels. I don't think the xi weighs 300lbs more than an i as you stated. It's closer to 175lbs.
I'm looking forward to getting out there again and would like to see how your car progresses |

Trevor, good meeting u too. That's good information. I thought my car was REALLY heavy. I'll be back before it gets hot to go for times. What was your best run?

Awesome review! So much better than mine.
I can't wait for my fmic to get here. Been waiting for the HPF unit for 2 months

SennaZ, thanks. I was actually surprised about the DCI.
NiVeDh, thank you. BMR335. Thank you, I appreciate it. pho_e92. Thanks. Good luck Litos, Thanks. I'm really anxious to see the AP for the 07s as well. There's clearly a big desire for them and it sounds like Rob is close to releasing. NRG, Thanks. I hope you'll take some datalogs with your 335is. I'm super interested in BMW's approach to the overboost, i.e. fueling, timing, etc. I'd also like to hear about the hardware on that car. Turkish335, thank you. TXSailor, Thanks. Yah, cooling for any tuned car is a good idea - especially in Texas. Perfectus, Thanks. Me too. It'll be great to get more users and the 07 release is close judging by Rob's posts. SSDD. Thanks for the comments. Vgtek, thank you. You will be thrilled. Maxnix, thank you. I really just wanted to talk about the tune and the car and eliminate all driver variables. I'm glad that came across. Alan I. Thanks. You're review was very helpful in my decision. I'm really happy to provide input. |

Harry,
So are you saying that the fmic upgrade isn't necessary?
