ISF Blah Lexus trash (FLAME Suit on) The R8 a true beauty. M1, BMW needs something to incorporate a sense of its artisitc license. They dont have anything that is iconic other than the M3. Z8 doesnt count since it is no longer in production. If they build it I may actually get on a wait list. Time will tell the tale.

I think it looks great except for the wheels, I know they are based on the old ones but with a set of modern looking wheels it could transform the car.

Looks way better than the ugly Concept CS.

Lol, i think the Lexus you mean is the LF-A, not the IS-F.
Either way they are just glorified toyotas!

I am not feeling the look too much. It looks like an old lambo.

I'll take one. it looks like none other, yet still carrys Lambo design as the original M1 did. R8 looks like a corolla compared to this.

Good eyes. the original M1 was designed with help of Lamborghini.

Again: just an hommage without any future agenda!
GregA: The Concept Coupe Mille Miglia does have that "Z" strokes on both sides of the car just like Z4s do. Is this taken from the Z4 since the concept coupe is a year 2006 (and that Z4 started around 2002/2003)?

Looks like BMW's interpretation of the Countach. Straight lines with angular edges is the rage 30 years ago (eg. Lamborghini Countach, Lotus Esprit etc) but outdated now.

That thing looks menacing like it needs the sound of a *loud* Supercharged V8; not the usual refined old-school Euro scream of a V10 or V12 but the kind of engine note that scares the crap out of small children and old ladies. I'm thinking 600+ hp should do nicely. I was never a huge fan of the orginal M1 however I could get used to this one. The way 'concept to production' has been going these days I 'd say we can expect the one that rolls of the showroom floor to look pretty much like this. I'm thinking it will be in the neighborhood of €250,000 with a top speed around 200 mph.

OH... and as for the different rims [and color] someone on another board was kind enough to PS this... looks even better. Props to "deafboy" for the artwork.

Found a couple more images and an artist's concept sketch.

It looks even more like the original from this angle.

The two Roundels on the back signify that it is rear-engine mounted vehicle. A single roundel on the back in the middle signifies a front-end mounted engine.

PS I really like all the design elements on this car. I'd like to see a production ready version of this and see what they keep. I'd be interested to see how much they change the front end, as this will def. fail any low speed impact tests.

Stunning! It's exactly what it's supposed to be - a modern interpretation of the M1, not a production-ready model. With that in mind, it's very well done. Design exercises like this are a great way to see elements of future production cars.

BTW - one item that strikes me odd is the use of Toyo tires. Concept vehiclies usually have a custom designed (i.e., fashion) tire by the makers supplier. I'd expect to see Conti's, Bridgestones, or Michelins. Maybe this is also a peek into the future for BMW?

Hommage is a pastiche of old & new. Retro shape with contemporary styling.

MM 2006 is influenced by Z4 ... since the underpinnings come from the Z4.
And more: MM 2006 was penned & designed by same guy as Z4 - Anders Warming (now Head of exterior design BMW Automobiles).

Hide those extreme lines a bit with black color, and it looks all gravy.
