2008 Options for 3 Series Coupe
Does anyone know if they will be offering the 335 Diesel in the United States?
Also, will they be offering night vision? Thanks |

No diesel till '08 at the earliest,BMW wants it to be 50 state compliant. The 1 series coupe is definitely coming in the fall ,possibly the sedan as well. Most likely the 3 series XI's in the Cabrio. No night vision for the 3 series.......

Really? Are they planning an all wheel drive cabrio? Wow! That sounds hard to believe since every compliant I have read about the cabio is the added weight of the hardtop, adding all wheel will balloon the weight over 4000 lbs.
I'm assuming you have a very reliable source so it must be fairly accurate.

from what I heard they will bring the 335d and the x5 diesel as the first models. who knows exactly when though. as for night vision... yeah right. I don't see it happening. I know the stuff is already available and it would be easy, but I just don't think there is a market for a $2500 gizmo on a 3 series when everyone whines about paying 1/2 price for comfort access and gets upset about every little extra option saying it 'should be standard'.

Because CA, ME, MA, NY, and VT follow the California emissions standard and it's difficult for a diesel meet them. Not only does work have to be done on the vehicle side, low sulfur fuel has to be available. That's a double-whammy but good for the environment. If a diesel can meet strict standards, then fine. But it should not be given an exemption as it is in some US states.
