///M Performance Exhaust Feedback
Guys - Im new here and need some advice on the fitment of an M performance exhaust. The Dealership has offered to hav it fitted (not for free off course) - at a cost of £1965 supplied and about an hrs fitment charge.
My concerns are the noise levels.Ive watched the vids and all sound loud.Is there any cabin drone, will I need to drive with a lighter foot on the motorway to ease off on any noise OR Is the sound similar to that of the stock pipes? Oh,didnt mention this bit - cant wait fo next Saturday when I take delivery of my very first M3. |

M performance exhaust for an m3? Eh?
For that sort of money wouldn't you be able to buy something really decent like an akroprovic system?

I don't think you will find the BMW system too loud and the price you have been quoted in very good as they normally knock out about £2600 + fitting
I've noticed quite a few M3 owners selling the Akra soon after having them fitted, some comment they are too metallic sounding. |

Years ago they turned out stuff for the Suzuki and Ducati twins and fours. And indeed that all sounded harsh or 'tinny' to me too.

I would put the akrapovic above the BMW one. Isn't the exhaust on the GTS a akrapovic? If so, makes you wonder why they chose that over a M performance exhaust. Could be wrong though!

I believe the pipes made of Inconel previously used in Jet applications- hard to machine and extremely heat and corrosive resistant.i guess tat hike up te price - The 20% vat didn't help either.
@m1bjr- akra made bike pipes so you're right. @takumichinoku-watched about 40 you tube reviews and vids and believe tat below 4000, it's civilised- Above that, this e92 turns NASCAR . It's an OEM part , so that doesn't hurt the warranty and if anything will add some value to resale a few years down. The pipes on back order and I've secured te last one . Called a few different parts dept around the country and told the same story. Only 3 sleeps before handover |

I'm sure you will be pleased. The longest 3 sleeps coming up. Handovers always exciting to me. I'm sure exhaust will sound fantastic anyways. Enjoy the car mate! Not that you need me to tell you that!

Gentleman gentleman- I picked her up today - Totally unassuming pipe- sounds fantastic- not cheap and tacky. Dealer principal and Sales manager heard about the car during the week and came out to hear it, this from a dealership that sells Alpinas.i would recommend it to all who want an M3 with that special little something.By the way, I've watched many vids with the pipe and even recorded my own and the vids don't capture the magic of the actual sound of the pipes .Thanks for your inputs

Hello Malek
I hope you are enjoying the car and exhaust. I too am looking for an M Performance exhaust for an E92 M3 Coupe. Would you mind if I got the name of the dealer who supplied the exhaust for £1965 ? Id like to give them a try. Similarly if you know any dealers offering a good price on these please let me know. Thanks |

So then sir, you'd like to buy the performance exhaust from BMW eh?
If that's the case, perhaps you'd be interested in a product I recently came across in my shed. It's called 'NoisoRub' and appears to be made from distiller snake oil. In addition to its ability to prolong the life of all engine components (when applied liberally by a teenage virgin) it also has the welcoming effect of making all BMW engines sound like the M car above them. So, of you drive an M3 and have a teenage virgin rub this into your back box, the car will instantly sound like an M5. If you do the same with an M5 or an M6 then I've heard they will sound like the BMW powered F1 cars from last season - but I can't confirm that as I've not got an M5 to try it on. One of the great (and totally unexpected) side effects is that when the teenage virgin hears your 'new' M car sound, there is a 1/3 chance she will ask you to penetrate her after only a couple of dates. Great news! I've used almost all of this stuff myself, but I have just a few litres left and as your a special forum discount awesome friend I could probably let you have 100ml for only £24.95 + £175.05 postage and VAT at 20%. I'll do you a discount if you want more too, because postage can be combined. I can't help with the teenage virgin though! I used all mine up when I turned my 1.4 Nova into a VXR8 powered beast by applying multiple coatings of 'NoisoRub.' I hope that helps mate! Matt |

Lol at Ragingkileak "jealousy is the jaundice of the soul," I'd like to prescribe a good dose of diazepam ( tranquillisers) as I feel that you pose a risk to yourself and others with such delusional thoughts.@jkay- Gareth at Nottingam Sytner parts was helpful in this department. It was part of a car purchase ,so the Sales guys did a deal with the parts guys who in turn did a deal with the workshop to get me this deal.@ zltm089 - I can mail you the vid link or will post later.

Thanks Malek. Will give them a try and see what they say.
I take it you are still happy with the exhaust then? No regrets and none of the inner paint peeling ppl talk about? Ive never heard one in person and am just going by the youtube vids Ive heard. Would appreciate it if u could send me the link to ur vids as well. Thanks JKay |

@ Matt- no probs-@ Jkay , I ordered the pipes then cancelled the order, then ordered again with the hope that there would be no cabin drone.its hard to actually hear the true sound on the vids but the tone is awesome. At cold start it tingles under the door sections but as you walk to the rear you hear the throaty sound. On the motorway , at 4/5k revs, you will hear it a bit but not loud . I have a 9 yr old, 9 month old and wife and didn't want it sounding tacky - and it doesn't //// having probs with the link- vids are on you tube but with only 32 views there are others way ahead of mine-- titled m performance exhaust BMW m performance - its Jerez Black.
