No one that I know of has tried this. I would if mine wasnt an auto.
JB Flywheels makes a single mass aluminum flywheel that is ~12lbs compared to the ~24lbs stock dual mass OEM it would give the car a bit faster take off for first and second gear. Down sides would be with less mass comes quicker rev drops which can become an issue if you aren't prepared for it or don't know how to heel/toe well.

I looked into this a while back and read that most who tried it felt it hurt the drive-ability too much as it was harder to shift. Can show any reference though as it was a LONG time ago...

The Pros are less inertia so the engine revs quicker.
The Cons are that you have less inertia so pulling out can be a bit difficult as there isn't enough mass to keep the revs up so you need to give the car more gas when you pull out, hence there may be added clutch wear. Another con is there will be a rattle in your shifter. I asked a few aftermarket companies who make lightweight flywheels and they all said that there will be "chatter" when you're driving. This would annoy me on the street. In a race car, everything is loud, so you don't really notice it. If your car is only going to be driven on the street I really don't see a point to go this route.

yep, he was spot on.
if you track the car id consider it. esp if you have a winter car or another one to drive.
