Visibility Sucks...

Is it just me (or my seat position) but does the visibility in the e92 suck??

I feel like even when I check my blind spot, I am still blind??

....the only solution I can come up with is to buy an e93??

you wont have a blind spot if your mirrors are adjusted properly. put it this way, if you can see your own car in your side mirrors then they are not adjusted properly. push them out further so your own car is not visible normally (unless you contort your head/body to purposely see it) and your blind spot(s) will disappear.

if you've driven a 350z or a 7th gen celica, or even the current build camaro, this car has amazing visibility compared to those. I didn't think the e92's visibility was all that worse than my e90.

From my defensive driving class:

To properly set your mirrors sit in the upright position then tilt your head all the way to the left and adjust your mirror to where you can barely see your car, repeat for the right side. Doing this makes it so that you only have about a 5% blind spot, if you can fully see a car in your rearview mirror and your side mirrors, they're adjusted incorrectly. they should go from the rearview -> side view -> side of you. It should be a smoove transition.
cheers

Brother come on......so your are saying if your mirrors are adjusted properly there is no blind spot??

I used to be in law enforcement and taught EVOC "emergency vehicle operations course"......unless you get a concaved mirror you will have a blind spot.

However, I will check you "theory" of not being able to see my car at all in the mirrors...I would think that seeing your car in the mirrors gives perspective...nonetheless I will give it a try...

I had a 07' 650I prior to this and I don't remember it being and issue.

using that method, i rarely even need to look at my side when switching lanes. It's made me a great driver and freaked alot of my friends out who get scared seeing as i never take my eyes off the road ahead.

It'll seem weird at first, and you'll wanna adjust it back. But dont, just get used to it. Now i cant drive in a car unless my mirror's are set that way.

As many have said, you're mirrors are adjusted wrong. I was taught by a driver instructor at the company I work for(we may not be law enforcement, but we are the safest transportation company in the world for the last 21 years,) to rest your head against the driver side window and adjust the mirror until the vehicle is just outside the viewing rang. Then lean your head to the passenger side roughly the same distance and do the same thing.

Adjusted mine like in the video below a good while back and the difference to how I used to have them is kind of silly. It took a little getting used to, but after that all is golden.

Exactly.

So many people adjust their mirrors incorrectly. 90% of the time I can see the drivers face when I am directly behind them at a light.

You don't need 3 rear view mirrors people!

I have never had a single issue with blind spots in my 335. When a car moves out of visibility in my center rearview mirror, I can see it in my sideview mirror. When it is no longer visible in my sideview mirror, then I can see it in my peripheral vision.

The only possible threat in terms of not seeing another motorist is if he/she cuts diagonally across lanes as I am merging into the same lane they are going for. But even then I'd be able to see them because I always turn my head to look...

If this process doesn't work for you then your mirror / seating position is wrong.

Ironically the car ive driven with the biggest blind spots is the 2011 ford taurus. Even seeing out of the back window is a treat.

Edit- I should def readjust my mirrors after seeing that video

The driver side mirror is an issue on the e90 with the older side mirrors... for tall people. The more you move it out the less you can move it up... so I'm stuck viewing more of the road then wanted.

but yes as others have said, if you can see your car then they are not adjusted properly. I do keep them a little closer then optimal so I can lean over and reference position... because for some reason my e90 looses it's mem setting every once in awhile.

I couldn't get the video to work...maybe I am paranoid but I worry most about motorcyclists...

Forgot to try the new mirror adjustment today...to be honest I am shocked that others were also taught that u should not be able to see yur car in mirrors...

Drivers Ed and EVOC we were always told to have the "smallest amount of your car visible for reference"....anyway I take back my defensive comment and will have to try it out....still have a hard time believing there is 0 blind spot...and wouldn't want to be on a cycle in yur "blind spot"
