Depends on how cool your dealer is.

Don't pay for the dealer to do your oil change.

what i usually do is get the oil changed every 7,500 miles. that way every other oil change is free.

thank you. anyone else have a different opinion? my feelings were they're probably not going to remove all the stuff in the engine bay for the oil change so they wouldn't be snooping in the ECU. thanks for your input.

If this is a free one, remove it
If not, go to a garage, why waste your money at the steeler?

Establish a good relationship with your SA and Tech and you won't have to take anything out. When I was still under warranty, I did not have to take anything out (my car is FBO).

Still don't know why you'd let the clowns at the dealership touch your car. I never brought mine in unless if was something expensive covered by warranty.

^^ sa's cab only do so much.
If a reo happe s to see them working on a modded car its their ass on the line so trust me nobody is goi g to risk their jobs protecting you. If you dont really need a warranty because you can afford to pay for your repairs and just dont want to bother goig back to stock then take the risk. However if you cannot afford thousands of dollars in repair either dont mod or if you do then remove everything.

I have always taken my car to the dealership for oil changes that were not part of the "maintenance" coverage, and now that I'm out of that, I continue to use them. With my 20% discount for BMWCCA membership, it's the same cost as using an independent shop.

There is one shop in town I'd use aside from the dealer, but getting an appointment where you can wait for your car takes some planning, and there are no loaners available. They're a good shop with trained techs, they have done some installation work for me (oil cooler), and were definitely less expensive than the dealership for changing my trans and diff fluids.

I get first-class service from both locations, but the dealer's customer lounge is a little more upscale.

Just brought mine to the shop last week with the jb+ installed and had no problems. If you have a full tune just put it in stock mode so they have no reason to snoop around.

Thing that can cause a problem is if they are doing a computer program upgrade as part of the normal service...if it fails they will most likely find the tune. Best to take it out, think of it as you may be making a few thousand dollars an hour for your time.

Procede = map 0 = valet mode
JB4 = map 0 = valet mode
Cobb = unmarry back to stock

Why is this old topic still coming up? I got my hpfp recall done with the tune in passthru mode and they flashed the software update no problem. For an oil change no problem.

Yes, updates can apply to older models if they find a bug, have a driveability problem, or if there is a customer complaint about anything in the car.
