Question Holiday Time Production a Problem?

This may be a dumb question, but....

I'm ordering a 335 in 3 days and I realize that the production time will be around Xmas/New Years. Does anyone have any information (anecdotal or otherwise) as to the possibility of quality control issues involving hard partying assembly line workers? Just wondering.

Hehhehe.... Your obsessed.. I don't think that the robots(which are building 80% of the car) will tell the difference about holidays.

Just order it and join the "wait list"! You'll be fine! trust me and especially BMW. They know what they are doing!

There wont be any quality control issue because BMW is pretty serious about it. They're not going to let a car pass without scrutinizing and checking every detail. I wouldnt worry about it

I was told by the dealer that BMW shuts down their plant for 2 weeks for christmas/new years. Not sure if that was true or not..but it was what I was informed.

Shuts down their plant? You mean the philodendron in the lobby?

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, around Sactown (as opposed to the Bay area) 335 verts are almost non existent on the lots. Besides, I like the idea of ordering exactly what I want.

Has anyone else heard anything about the plants shutting down for 2 weeks?

To answer my own question...

I just ordered a 335 today and the salesman told me that they do shut down for the holidays ("it is Germany") but he wasn't sure for how long.

That's ok, I can wait (for a little while).

Well my 335i has been in the status "On Order" for 14 days now. I ordered it December 21st 2007. I figured their would be a little delay during the holiday's maybe take a week or so until it would be scheduled for production, but 2 weeks!! Going to be a long wait I think.

I ordered my car in the beginning of Dec and was told the next production run for the 335i was mid Jan. When I confirmed my order, I got a production date the week starting Feb 3rd. Then again, I ordered through the military sales program and I know they allot a certain amount of cars per production run. The wait is killing me.

Most factories close for 2 weeks around now. That way they have full workforce before and after the holidays instead of trying to operate with no staff.

Its done in NA and Europe.

You should see summer vacations in Europe, some plants shutdown for a month.

Would definitely not want my car being built before or after Oktoberfest.

Well do you have a Prod # yet? Being "On Order" and having an actual Prod # makes a big difference. Your order could be "on order" until your dealer has an allocation available next month.

The dealer gave me a production number which I used to enter into the BMW web site to check its status. Is that the same production number your talking about? So when I log into the BMW Tracking website and check its status it says "On Order", waiting to be scheduled for production.

I see the same thing...The dealer said they would take one that on the production line and modify it for me. I'm a bit confused

They did the same thing for me. Took one they had already and modified it for my car... Really wish this thing would get into production now going on over 2 weeks sitting in "On Order". I was thinking Mid Feb delivery, now looks like it probably won't get here until March with the way things are going.

Yep..thats what they did for me. I called up the 800 number and spoke to a rep. He told me that my car will be produced on 1/13 and will probably get the car at the end of February which isn't cool b/c I was expecting it by late January / early Feb considering I am without a car since I sold my e90....

Call them up and find out. You may be on the same timeframe as me.
