New to me E90 328i M Sport

With 2 teen drivers I found myself needing yet another car, and thought an LCI E90 328i would be an inexpensive, yet cool car. I had to cast a pretty wide net to find an M Sport w/ xDrive, plus all my other option, mileage, and color combo requirements, but it finally surfaced. Although it was clear on the other side of the country, even with shipping costs it was less $ than anything here on the price inflated west coast.

It needs some new fluids and several recalls are still outstanding, but it has a clean Carfax & no red flags per my BMW service advisor.

Here's the factory spec:

2011 328i xDrive - 84K miles
Black sapphire metallic/black dakota/glacier silver trim
Steptronic
M Sport
Premium
Cold Weather
Navigation
Xenons
PDC (I think this is included with M Sport)
Harmon Kardon
Comfort Access

A few pics below, including delivery day (shipped from Pittsburgh to Seattle). I swore I'd never do open transport again, but this car being older and inexpensive, it didn't seem worth the extra cost to enclose. Sorta regretting that decision. Anyhow, it's cleaned up for now. A proper detail will be forthcoming - decon, clay, paint correction, ceramic coat. Need to sort some other stuff out first.

It's okay to wince, laugh, cry, or whatever at the pictured wheel/tire setup. I know, it's awful. I have a set of fully refinished 193Ms on order, and will wrap those in Pilot Sport All Season 4's. This was a dedicated winter setup that will be discarded very soon. The car also came with the original 194Ms which will be cleaned up and sold off.

I need to order up a new M Sport steering wheel and a ton of various trim pieces to get this car back to factory status. Window tint, backup camera, and other various items coming as well, but the car will remain OEM+.

Thanks for reading, I look forward to spending more time in this part of the Bimmerpost community.

That's an excellent starter car. I can see why you might want to select an enclosed transport option next time. Especially this time of year. Goodness gracious they delivered it beyond filthy huh. Good thing all the window were fully rolled up.

Looks nice! (Except the wheels...)

Just to make sure you know - XD cars don't have M-sport suspension. M-sport pack on them is just all the visual upgrades, seats and steering wheel. Just so you're not disappointed about the fender gap when you put your new wheels on.

Well done, I found a seller on eBay from Lithuania that refurbishes MSport steering wheels and I love it. A new suspension to refresh and slightly lower and set of BMW wheels will take it to another level.

Thanks, I think so too.

I've done open and closed transport in the past, but never taken delivery of a car via open transport that looked this bad.

Right, mine will sit a bit higher which is fine since my kids will be driving it. I wanted M Sport for all the other cosmetic stuff, especially the seats (which I know are the same as those in the regular sport package too).

So is the M Sport suspension just different springs on the E90?

That looks really nice! I cleaned & conditioned mine and it's still pretty nasty, at least to my OCD standards. It's gotta go ASAP.

I have found 3 sellers on eBay who sell remanufactured M Sport wheels that all look nice. Do you recall which seller you bought from?

Springs and shocks/struts are the main differences in the RWD M-sport suspension. I think sway bars are slightly different, as are the strut tops etc. But the 16mm lower ride is the only visible difference.

I've owned a number of E46 & E90's over the years, never had a rear window shelf/package tray this faded.

Normally I'd buy a new one, but I figured to save $400+ and just spray it with some fabric paint. Not perfect, but once the rear window is tinted you'll never see the remaining defects.

Fully refinished OEM 193Ms finally arrived. I just ordered tires - should have these installed by the weekend. If you saw the wheels it came with pictured above, install of these can’t come soon enough.

New wheels mounted. Chipping away at my list, still so much to do.

Been slowly replacing quite a few interior and exterior cosmetic pieces. Finally the car is looking respectable.

Just a few pics below - newly wrapped M Sport steering wheel with new lower trim piece (wheel looks OEM except it has ///M stitching vs. black, and is thicker than the original), iND painted front reflectors, and old vs. new OEM exhaust tips.

Do you happen to have a BMW part # for those tips... ? They look almost identical to the ones on my 2011 335i & wondering if they would fit. Probably not the same ones. But it never hurts to at least ask.

I'm looking at realoem.com and I don't see a separate part # for 335i exhaust tips, they look like they're attached/all part of the main muffler piece.

The 328i part #'s are:

18-30-7-553-643
18-30-7-553-644

When I Google those #'s vehicle fitment/compatibility does not reference the 335i.

That's what I thought & thank you for conforming with me what I have previously discovered. The photos made them look almost identical. But I'm sure they're not unfortunately.
