BMW Warranty, worth it on 2nd hand car?
Having recently purchased a e92 320i for my mum was just wondering if its worth buying the BMW Warranty as opposed to the waranty the garage is offering even though its cheaper? I think the bmw one is 500 for the yr whereas the garage is offering 36 months for almost the same price. But i;ve heard people speak highly of the BMW warranty so just wanted to know peoples thoughts? The car has only done 23k and is pretty much like new. its a 2008 model.
Thoughts appreciated. Thanks |

I had no quibbles on any of the extended warranty repairs with BMW but they were all pretty clear cut warranty issues, trim and wear & tear are the things to watch out for as they won't be covered. Also there are different levels of cover so you need to check that the items you want covered are included in the price. If I remember correctly the warranty is actually run by another company not BMW but it is sanctioned by them.
I heard some fairly good and bad things about warrantydirect but haven't looked into others |

Generally on here most agree to stick with the BMW warranty. You should be able to get it for less than £500, try increasing the excess a bit and also you can drop the emergency recovery option, the standard policy includes recovery to nearest BMW garage while the extra option gives you relay to locations on a journey. This is only useful if you travel a bit and would want the car brought back home or taken to your journey location.

I'd search the forums for problems with the 320i. For some owners they have been far from the best owner experiences. Then check to see if your third party will cover these types of failures.
Check for claim limits and an excesses. |

320i can give a bit of bother so best to make sure you have a decent warranty. |
