vrsf downpipe

Quick question on the dp install. Kept these cats after installing it so my question is will I have beneficial power if I took the cats off? Might be a dumb question but wanted to avoid the smell. Let me know guys thanks

Only get the smell if you delete the secondary cats as well. They are located between the DP and mufflers

Should get a small increase in power as there is less restriction with the catless DP over stock, turbo spool is also quicker

Mine did smell more than stock once I put on the downpipes. I didn't remove the secondary cats.

Same. I have a smell with a 4in catless DP and I retained secondary cats. It's not terrible but noticeable

I went with BERK 4in DP - http://www.berktechnology.com/news/b...-available-now

I like the downpipe. It is hard to say what gains it provided, as I also switched my COBB Map from Stage 1 Aggressive to Stage 2 Aggressive at the same time. But the car sounds nice (not too loud with stock catback) and the turbo seems to spool a good bit faster.

Nice to see some fellow local members.

I'm from mechanicsburg also. I noticed the power difference. However, I'm not sure how much was related to just the downpipe install. JB4 users normally switch to map 2 (14.5 Lbs) from map 1 (12.5 LBs). I certainly felt the power, but I also added 2 LBs of boost. Map 5 with some E85 is even better. However, My clutch doesnt seem to like the extra torque. It slips when running E85.

I only notice the smell from the exhaust if I stand behind the car while its running. So its not that bad. However, it does smell more than stock.

The catless exhaust smell doesn't bother me... Old enough to remember catless cars from the factory. :-)
