Shops around McLean that do OBD-only emissions inspection?
As the subject states, I'd appreciate insight into the local shops that you know only rely on OBD-II for emissions inspection (no sniffer) in and around the McLean area.
Thanks in advance, -Ash |

ANY obd2 vehicle should only get a OBD2 test. I have never seen(since they made the swtich) any other obd2 car get sniffed. However just because you have no light on does not mean your car will pass, they still have to do a visual inspection, no codes can be stored and all readiness monitors must be complete(exceptions on older obd2 cars can apply)

I asked the question because the other day I was getting safetied and saw an Acura TSX getting inspected and the inspector plugged a tailpipe hose on one of the two tips. Couldn't tell if he was just trying to keep fumes down or actually sniff.
VA's DEQ website also states that a combination of inspection methods may be used. I think it's at the discretion of the station if you have an OBD car. As for readiness, I know what I need to do for that - no issues there. Thanks for responding! |
