Changing to 17" non runflats for the winter, never had a puncture in 20 years at least but bet one comes along as soon as I leave the runflats.

What do I need to keep mobile, never too far from home but need something just incase. Choices I guess are either to keep one of my 19" wheels in the boot, therefore I need a jack and a wheel brace. Whats the best options for a jack that will actually fit under a E92 esp with a flat wheel?

Other option is the can of tyre weld, do i need one or two, whats recommended. They talk of being able to inflate a tyre but do they really or do I need some sort of portable compressor to blow the tyre up. Any recomendations, not wanting to spend too much cash as it may never be used.

I have Tyre Weld, a Ring 12v compressor (just over £20) and a lot of hope (and the number for the AA) I don't get a flat miles from home!

I'm guessing the Conti kits will be a lot more than that?

That Amazon compressor looks good, much cheaper than a BMW kit for sure.

There are Continental kits on Ebay for about £15 plus £7 delivery, doesn't say if they are new or not, have asked the question as it seems very cheap for the continental item.

Some kits I read about mention a valve stem removal tool, is this necessary? I assume buying the compressor and tyre weld option as separate items I wouldn't have this tool if I need this.

davy get one of the ebay ones, the bottle of glue will have a use by date on it so just check that, i got one for about £20 delivered so its possible, also with the conti kits you just screw it on to valve and fill up the tyre.

Agreed, except that I paid £27 for mine over a year ago and that was the cheapest I could find it at the time .

I run with OKO tyre seal in the tyres. This self cures when the tyre is punctured so you never even know it's happened.

Just done the same and I've bought a can of 'Holts Tyre Weld' apparently it seals and inflates. Hopefully will not get to find out, but only cost £12.

The well priced Continental kits on Ebay at moment have an expiry of the seal of July 2011 so thats a pretty short term solution. Guess I could buy a tin of tyre weld then but the Amazon one still looks pretty good if that is all I need.

Assume if the puncture happens you just stick on the tyre weld tin to the valve, empty it and then run the compressor until firm enough to get to a tyre shop?
