The blue coupe, is just a photoshop of the previsous grey one... Nothing new... They just changed the color of the car, and the landscape....

I don't know whats more scary. The fact that tbensous suggested the silver e46 is the same as the blue e90 coupe, or the fact that SpeedFreak! agreed.

I edited the diagram from TravertineEye.... From the spy pics, I think the proportion will be more like this... Longer butt for E92, and no B-Pilar...

perhapse, with an m sports package or something that makes the rear bumper thicker (lower) and a rear spoiler (that effectively raises the trunk line), the car would look better... the e46 coupe also has a slightly dropping trunk line... the key word being "slightly".... it's a lot more pronounced for the e92... perhapse it'll warm up to me when i see the real thing... but that trunk line is bothering me so much... what would work, i think, is the trunk design of the e46 M3 CSL. it's sloping upwards in the middle, so it would complement the e92's dropping trunkline nicely, me thinks...

also, the e92 needs bigger wheels... much bigger... the general look of the car, with its high belt line, makes the sides look really thick.. you need huge wheels to off-set that... i would look for ways to squeeze 20" wheels on a e92 to make it look better...

man, this makes me realize just how good the e46 design was... you can't change anything in the e46 without unbalancing something... it was just perfect the way it was... with the e92, there are so much room for improvement...

something i noticed with all new bmws... there is a step on the hood... look at where the a piler meets the front fender... on the older cars, like that e46, the level of the hood is the same as the level of the fender. with the newer cars, the E90+ and E60 etc, there is a step, making the entire hood higher, causing the entire profile of the car look thicker... the e46 looks like a knife cutting through the air because the hood line is so low...

i think this is because of the new law in europe where there has to be a lot of room between the engin and the hood. this is part of a new law that's deisgned to make cars easier on pedestrians... more room between hood and the hard engin block means there is more room for the hood to absorb the impact for the pedestrian... but, that's making all new european cars look fat...

so, here's an idea.... why not move the transmission to the back of the car? that way, BMW can push the engin further back, thus causing te engin to be "lower" which would allow them a lower hood line? it would also improve the weight distribition to boot....
I'm still in love with the E46 coupes, especially in black, but the comparison makes the E46 look a bit droopy-nosed. I like what appears to be the E92's shape a little better - looks a bit more balanced front to rear.

The overhangs look almost identical to me between the E46 and E92.

In fact, the E92 actually looks like the front overhang may be a little shorter, due to the front bumper being flush with the rest of the body - it doesn't pop out like in the E46.

Besides, rear-overhang doesn't bother me too much. Means more weight on the rear-wheels.

The pictures of the blue car don't look photoshopped at all to me.

Besides the obvious differences in the person driving the car, the blue car also has BMW centercaps on the wheels that the gray one does not.

This blue color is really nice. It has already appeared in E91 prospect and is called Ultramarine Blue although it seems it hasn't been offered so far. I really like it because it almost looks like the famous Estoril Blue.

You posted right below someone comparing a gray E46 to a silver E92 (about the back-end), sorry if that was not what you were referencing.

If you look at the image you attached, besides the other details pointed out the rear window hints the image is actually at a slightly different angle on the blue then on the gray. It is not photoshopped.

The gray was taken from more to the right, where the blue is more to the left.

So is the camo-tape painted to match? I find it interesting that there is a reflection in the tape... very un-tape like. More chop-like... as if there was an artificial color change done poorly.

The matte camo tape matched the colour of the car. Not a PS.

The colour is the Ultramarine Blue. It was mentioned way before by someone that this colour would appear in official pics also.

Wasn't the Ultramarine a color that was "supposed" to be available for the e90 as well? As in it was on the original list of colors but then taken off later?

I hope they make it available for the sedan too later on.

It was. But then BMW decided to save it for E92 debut.

Do they have different colors for the coupe and the sedan? Or is there a chance that after they release the e92 with ultramarine, they'll make it available for the sedan too?

Usually they offer the same color on both... So it's likely to change for the sedan...

With such an ugly rear end and questionable styling with the kick panel plus only TWO lighted door handles i think i may just go with the Sedan. from those diagrams "givin' the coupe design is a little off" the sedan actually looks more agressive to me with exception of the coupe front.
