I've got a vibration rattle on the driver's side, coming from just behind my head. Appears its coming from jst behind the seat belt unit. If I push up on the headliner right above my headrest, the noise stops. Took it into dealer who cannot replicate. Anyone else have this issue or know of a fix? Making me crazy!

there is an M6 10mm headed bolt, it would 'appear' the nut on the other side of this bolt is loose, Im not sure it is as it feels secure, but if you tap the wing at the top edge with the palm of your hand you can get the wing to move/rattle and this IS what the noise i'm hearing is.

I jammed a piece of cardboard on both front wings as the pass side actually started doing it recently too, drove home on private test track, and there was no rattle or noise whatesoever at 'speed' so definately that's what the problem on my car was.
I'd imagine it's the same for most if not all E92's/E93/E90/E91's! Something isn't right with the fixing, I need to remove wheel arch liner which I will either do myself this weekend or take to BMW to do next week.

So glad I found it, it's been doing my tit's in since I got the car!

Yes the measure number is 86998-42-07.

I'm not sure this is a fix for the part i've described above as it would appear this PUMA measure is for fixings lower down on the wing, worth a look at both either way!
I've just picked up an '08 330i E92 and had an annoying rattle develop at around 65+ mph - I had the bonnet up, was inspecting wiper blades, air-vents and all sorts Finally guessed that the sound was coming from around/inside the A-pillar, however the diagnosis above looks right. I've just inspected the bolt in question - it wasn't loose but I could quite easily tighten it 1/8 - 1/4 of a turn. I'll be on the motorway tomorrow and will know then. Fingers crossed..

(my E46 didn't have any rattles after 150,000 miles! )

I too tried the 'suggested' solution, but found the noise came from another source. I never discovered exactly what caused it, but I did find a solution! I stuck black pvc tape across the base of the windscreen, overlapping the join between the windscreen surround and the top edge of the plastic scuttle at the base of the screen.

I think the movement of air was setting up a vibration between the scuttle and the pollen filter housing. Anyway it worked for me!

I tightened said bolt and couldn't hear anything at all on the motorway with stereo off - It may be wishful thinking, or I wasn't listening hard enough, however the noise that I could hear before tightening definitely ins't there now!

I posted this in another thread somewhere on here re rattles. From I bought the car I had something moving, rolling about. Side to side only not back and forth and it was bugging me not knowing wtf it was or from where. Thought maybe from the base of the passenger seat. The door card. The vents in the center console in the back. It sounded like a marble or coin on its end rolling from side to side. Well f**k me sideways it was a bast***ing national trust pencil rolling from side to side in the blower vent under the seat. Bloody kids.

I've a vibration from the plastic cover behind the rear view mirror. Squeeze it together and it's ok for a few days.

I've also got that buzzing thing at the trailing edge of both front wings when I go above 60mph.

Need to do a proper clean this weekend so I'll check the wing bolts

Oh, and clearing out the pencils and crap out of the back makes a huge difference, lol

..although I thought that I had sorted by tightening the wing bolt, I hadn't. I've now wedged a piece of rubber in the gap between body and wing - sorted. I've not heard another thing since - been around 2 weeks...

I have a rattle under the centre left passenger vent (RHD) Between the Alloy trim and the plastic above the AC controls.

I can stop it if i put my finger between the two, any with the same and found any permanent fixes?

Smile 2010 325M convertible

I bought the car private 4 weeks ago ,and just notice noise over 60mph from the front wings.
I saw few people here have the same problem.
I spoke with BMW very unhelpful ,they know very well what is the issue but pretend that I'm the first one with this complain, they ask for £200 just to look at it what a rip off.
To Phill325 please I saw your comment that you sort the problem,if you can give me exact step by step how to fix them.
Many thanks

Hi Guys

I've also developed an annoying rattle on my E93 convertible - driver side rear panel. I'm slightly confused - given that mine is a vert I assume there's no B Pillar?

It's almost like a loose bit of metal when driving, so annoying! Any ideas?

Thanks

Suraj

No B pillar at all. The most common rattle in this thread is from the front wing and would appear to be coming from the A pillar when heard from inside the cabin.

Does your rattle vary based on speed? i.e. wind level.

Hiya mate,

It starts whenever I hit about 25mph. I thought it may be a bit of metal in the petrol tank part (where you put the pump).

So annoying! Any advice would be much appreciated!
