What Does This Phone Icon Mean?

Hi All

Does anyone know what the “Phone” icon means in the iDrive screen (circled)?

Name: phone icon.jpg
Views: 592
Size: 10.4 KB

When I first got my 335d this icon did not display in the iDrive, then suddenly one day it appeared. I’ve never known why.

Two weeks ago I had to get a replacement phone (same Nokia 6021). The replacement phones firmware version was a newer version than what the old phone had.

The really weird thing is that the replacement phone no longer displays the “Phone” icon in the iDrive screen

Maybe it will suddenly appear again like it did before!

it comes up if you miss a call while your phone is connected to the car. It goes away if you delete/re-pair your phone or delete the missed call from the phone menu.

Given the description "New entries present in 'Missed calls'" it didn't occur to you that there might have been an entry in "missed calls"?

Thanks tintivilus

I'll create a missed call with the phone "physically connected" to the car and see if the icon reappears.

I guess I kinda like having the phone icon appear when the phone connects with the car as it is a more descript indication that the phone is attached!

On a final note, do you know if the phone signal strength indicator on the iDrive screen is "phone model" dependant as my Nokia 6021 has never switched this signal strength indicator on?

I have a Tmobile MDA and don't have that signal strength icon in the picture. If my phone is connected and has coverage I see a similar icon but it doesn't show signal strength. It blinks during a call, that's it.

The signal strength meter will only display if your phone responds to the "request signal strength" command -- I think it's AT+CSQ or something like that.
