335D EGR removal/clean

I tried to do this today, but got stuck

This is the EGR valve on the car (the highest silver metal part in the pic)

I had trouble taking the metal pipe off on the left. The metal screw clips are welded on to it which i found strange:

You can see the spot weld below. You can also see there a metal cover around the whole pipe:

Any ideas on how to remove the metal pipe, and then reattach?

They are not welded MO.
You just loose it until locking plate (which binds to the tightening screw) completely comes out.
Then wiggle it a bit and it will open.
Move it out of the way to the left.
Those pipes will not move till you take out the egr valve.
B/w I was going to write a DIY over the weekend.

Oh right, i might try and get a screwdriver under there and try and wriggle it out.

Access is quite limited. I might give it another go, but will probably wait for your DIY.

When I did mine I thought it was welded on but its not give it light taps with a hammer when the screw is fully undone all the way around you should see it loosen

When I took mine off at 100k plesantly surprised how clean it was

Just pull it.
In my car it was stuck to funnel due to heat.
I snapped it but after cleaning the metallic part of egr valve it went back.
Good luck.

hold the hose near to egr valve. You do not want it to be snapped in the middle or on the other side.

Just cut a small slit on vacuum hose and unpeel off egr there is enough hose to cut 3mm off and re attach

The hose will be welded onto the egr nipple due to heat

While we are on the case, can anybody tell me how to remove those clamps which are marked with red circles?
Any video / diagram which explains how to take it off?

Thanks.

Mak: you have to use pliers and squeeze the little nipple to loosen them. I replaced them with screw clips after.

I took the front air box off for better access but its still a pain. You need an extension bar really.
