thinking up moving up to 335i, need advice
Hi Guys
I'm a BMW tragic and have enjoyed an E46 330i Msport (2004) for the last 4 years. Have done 51,000 k's and am toying with moving up to a 335i. I think I'll have a budget up to say $80K. I am hoping I will enjoy the drive/ride after the 330i Msport which has been great fun. $80k seems a reasonable budget for a 335i, is there anything I should look out for, anything I should avoid or preferably try and get as far as options is concerned ? Any advice gratefully appreciated. I will obviously go to a stealership for a drive, but like to be slightly better prepared than relying on salesmans info. Thanks |

Do it - you won't look back
I went from a 2004 E46 (a 325ci) up to a 2007 E92 335i about 18 months ago. For $80k you could get a pretty recent 335i with a bunch of options. At that price it should be late 2008 onwards which gets the CIC based iDrive, which is a big improvement over the CCC version fitted to earlier (2007 and 2008) cars. Also depends on personal preference but I'd aim for a M sport version over a standard car. If you look hard enough and negotiate then you might scrape into a car fitted with the 7 speed DCT which was an option from sometime in 2009, not sure when exactly. One other thing to consider is whether you want a decent warranty. I bought a Premium Selection car from a BMW dealer which included an extended warranty, scheduled servicing and roadside assist in the cost. In the end I negotiated three years coverage which so far has been pretty cost effective, given I've had a few things done under warranty and servicing costs have been minimal. On the other hand if you go private you'll get better bang for your buck! |

Maybe get this one.. lol
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...s=40&silo=1011 Is this someone from the boards? Isn't it a bit moronic to sell a 335i tarted up like that? Who would touch that car with a barge pole? (from a "the engine has been thrashed" perspective) |

I'd figure anyone that has done that level of mods would be anal about maintenance. I'd be more worried about someone removing mods with no disclosure or a grandpa that has not changed the oil more than the scheduled times.

335i no doubt is a great car. but with 80k you can get brand new is350, 4years warranty (yes it is toyota).
i think its better than USED 335i with no warranty. it does cross my mind last month. |

that vert doesn't have the Msport kit despite what the owner says... and quads look crap with the standard bumper.
yeh plenty of examples for 80k. i'd look for a nice low km 08/09 E92 with Msport kit. |

interesting point about the isf 350, I thought it was a dated design tho, unless of course it has been updated ? It was a good suggestion for comparision, perhaps I'll look at that as well as a Jag XF 3 litre, just to be sure
