Are you sure there is not a key in the fob.

Are you sure there is not a key in the fob.
Most of the Fobs have a blade key that can be
removed from the Fob and used in a keyhole.
Also if you have access to the cabin and a battery
charger you can pop the hood and apply power to
the battery charge points.
If you have rear seats that fold you can get to the
trunk and there is suppose to be and emergency release
chord.

If you have the rectangular fob
The squeeze the end that the key ring is in and pull out the blade
key .

Unless you can pop the hood you better call tow service.

You can't make a extra key I think

You can't make a extra key I think to my knowledge
it has and imbeded electronic chip, only BMW can make one.
Also did you have the recall for the power cable to the main
fuse panel cause it may be that and not the battery if you didn't,
and in which case you are going to have do I don't know what to get
in.

You've only got the one keyfob and it's missing the blade portion? Pretty strange... you pretty much need a BMW dealer at this point. Be prepared to prove you own the car.

The microchip in the key is only for starting the engine. Any key blade with the proper cut will turn the mechanical door lock cylinder.

That said, the dealer will make/order you the proper key. It usually only take a day. I don't know if a locksmith could even do it...

You don't have a spare fob at all? It'll be several hundred at the dealer, but it sounds like you really need an extra key anyway.

Before I went to locksmith I would call and ask?

Before I went to locksmith I would call and ask?
Be sure to verify the year and model with the guy.
I have a plastic key that has to be put in pho fob to start the
car I don't know it the car has to have power to it or not
to unlock the door but I know it has some kind of chip in it
to start the car.

I would make a pole with a loop on the end see if you can
pop the hood release and try and put a charge on the battery if
the battery terminals really read low.

No locksmith gon make u a BMW key. U need to call BMW roadside assistance or your insurance company. If u can get inside of the car just remove the middle part in the backseats that look like airbags and reach with your hand until u locate the handle and just pull it to open the trunk. The battery is located to your right. This happened to me a couple weeks back. I went to autozone and payed for a brand new battery for $150 with 5 yr warranty. it's worth it! Don't go to the bmw dealership because they'll charge you over $400

If you can get the hood open then you can try jumping the car. The (+) jump lead has a red cap and is near the microfilter cowl on the passenger side. The (-) lead is a metal stick coming out of the fender rail near the coolant overflow reservoir on the passenger side.

Or even without jumping it, it should have enough power to pop the trunk release.

How did you get the Hood Open?

How did you get the Hood Open?
How's your battery ?
If its on the original it need a new one.
Are you going to get some spare keys now?
Battery Cable Issue is not suppose to effect the 06
but I would check it . The connection becomes intermittant
at the fuse box behind the glove compartment. If it looks
burnt or you can shake the cable and have power go in an
out you need to fix it.
