E90 320d harmonic balancer
Hi all,
Has anyone else had to be replace the harmonic balancer on their engine? My 2009 E90 LCI 320d has done 160,000km. It's been a little noisy at idle for a good 3 years now, and replacing the tensioner - which Adelaide BMW told me would fix the problem - didn't fix it. I recently took it to an independent BMW specialist who reckons the HB is looking 'worn' and ought to be replaced. I just want to find out of this is an expected replacement on a high-mileage engine, or something unusual? Cheers, Dave.

The pulley itself is very expensive. But it's something to check at least every oil change or every year because when it goes it can have some dramatic results. Aftermarket version are significantly cheaper. Don't forget the bolts and the front main seal
