Went to a local dealer today and picked up a hood insulator pad for the underside of my hood...

It will protect the hood from the cone damage but the metal lip that hits the midsection is actually the thing that holds it in so I'm thinking I will cut a small piece of it off and glue it to the midsection pipe with some tire repair glue (heat resistant I believe)
I will let everyone know how this all turns out

On a side note, Injen has been reluctant to contact me back, so either they are really busy or ignoring me

Why don't you bend that piece of metal up a bit?

I did or at least I tried with the tools I had. I managed to bend it upwards but then the further side of the lip was hitting, not the edge anymore.

Anyways, I installed the insulation pad and it seems to work out good. You are supposed to use that lip to slip the pad into the hood but I just covered the lip with the pad and secured the pad to the hood via plastic rivets. I also moved the cone further down, or tried to, and the pad should protect the hood from that as well anyways.

Hopefully this works out.

Question: Do any of you guys experience a high pitch beep after 3.2 rpm?
It seems as though after the installation of the intake, whenever I reach and pass 3 - 3.2rpm a very high pitch beeping noise comes on (when the car is under load and throttle is maybe 50% - 90%)?

Yes, what appears to sound like a very high pitch electronic beep. Its not very loud but it is definitely noticeable with radio off, windows up, AC low...

Could it be closer to a whistling sound? I don't hear beeps at all.

Don't think so. Its consistent with the throttle over 3rpm and even my passengers can hear it when i have everything turned off. So strange...
If anything it could be a vibration (very small yet intense) making this high pitch beep sound, but it sounds more electronic than mechanical

Definitely the hood insulator pad helps with the tube. I agree, the fitment is good but not perfect.

My cone still rubs against one of my rivets that hold my insulator pad down but I don't mind anymore, as long as the hood paint isn't getting damaged.

Update:

Still having the electronic high-pitch beep after 3000 rpm. Its getting VERY annoying and I don't know how to get rid of it. Surely if one of my sensors were not plugged in right it would throw a code?

it's not ur sensor - i'm think'n that's the bimmer's electronics being
amply'fed by the intake.
