Cobb Question

Hey everyone,

I got a couple questions for my fellow Cobb owners and knew this was the place to come for honest answers.

I purchased a 2011 335i sedan w/ 39k on the dash, just recently picked up a V2 and been doing my research on everything before I install. Car was CPO when I picked it up and no where can I find when the spark plugs were changed. Seeing as this is my DD with no mods yet I plan on running a conservative map. Do I need to add fresh plugs before I install. Or is there a way I can find out when my plugs were changed without having to get under my hood? I'm like a damn kid on Christmas and just want to play with my Cobb but don't want to break anything. Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Happy holidays!

The plugs should be replaced at 45K, or every 3rd oil change. I doubt they've been changed yet. It's up to you whether you want to change them out sooner or not.

You wont hurt anything running with old plugs but these cars are very sensitive to misfires. As boost increases the condition of your plugs become more significant. Most people suggest that you replace them every 25,000 or so when your car is tuned. Try to install the Cobb. If you get misfires try changing them.

Given the VIN to your local dealer and ask them to pull up the service records. Tell them the truth - you want to find out whether the plugs need to be changed.

Since the car only has 39k, I highly doubt they've changed the spark plugs. If you are curious then just call the dealership and ask if your service adviser if they've ever been changed.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I figured a call to my SA is the proper route.

Honestly man, I've heard more horror stories on this website about actually upgrading to fresh plugs!! Lol. Odd but it's always some issue after that comes out. My car had 15k before COBB, 24k now no issues.....but as the guy up there suggested, I am going to ask the dealer if my plugs were changed give it that I have a CPO also (I picked it up with 9500 miles, curious if they changed the plugs, cpo cert typically does that.)
