Wow! old thread...here are the DME reset instructions from another thread. The other option is to disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. This has been discussed many times over...reset is for adaptive driving. Never done myself since driving yourself will take care of it after a period of time.
1. Key in slot, do not touch brake pedal 2. Still not touching brake pedal, hit start button 3. Floor throttle pedal for a good 30 seconds (used my phone stopwatch, it's longer than you think) 4. Still not touching brake pedal, hit start button again 5. Wait 30 seconds, I waited longer actually 6. Start the car normally

Out of context: I was responding soley to your implication that someone could call a multinational corporation and in one call reach someone who would answer a deep technical question definitively. Quoting my statement with the two relayed dealer/mechanic comments puts my statement out of context.
Misunderstood: you appear to think I "believe in" this Steptronic reset thing when I've not stated my opinion one way or another. |
