I got them on a wheel package and they were ok for the winter, did not get stuck in the snow.... People have mixed feelings about them as they a cheaper make of tyre....

I am also considering these just for the Autumn / mild winter. The real bad weather winter ride will be an old school merc that I don't skidding and what not in the snow.
Are Nankangs ok? |

I've had no bother with mine and find them quite hard wearing. If I'm honest though I don't drive 'hard' so getting to the limit of a tyre is not something I do or am able/confident enough to do. About October time I started to get a droning noise from the front end, I'm not sure if it was the tyres working in colder temps. but I've switched to my winter set up now and the noise is still there but somewhat quieter (tyres again I believe). I'll only be able to confirm if it's the tyres when I get the NS2's back on as everything else is checking out okay.

Hi, don't have a limit to be honest. My wife's car needs new fronts, 225/45/17 and I have always bought conti's but she only does very local mileage approx 9,000 per year and she never does motorway miles so just pricing up conti's are £120 and the Nankang are £49.
I know they have been mentioned on the forum just wondered what peoples thoughts on them where! |

Cheers will do. Noticed Toyo's are £74 think they may be a good compromise.

Aptly named "Nangkang ditch finders"
Vredestein, falken, kumho, Avon are all decent midrange tyres. I'll be going with vredestein next time round...

In short - no they're utter crap, and have no business being on a relatively high powered RWD BMW. In the dry, they're manageable (note, that doesn't mean good or even ok) in the wet, they are stupid.
However, they are the best of the worst tyres. But that isn't much of an accolade, trust me. |

ive had nankanh NS2 several times, with mixed results.
In the dry they are pretty good, solid progressive grip. But in the wet, they are only good up to the limit of their grip, then it gets a little bit wild. For the price, i cant fault them. But for the same price, i slightly prefer the accelera alpha tyres. Slightly better wet weather performance, and on my 530D they were generally excellent (in staggered sport 17" sizes) |

I'll never put budget tyres on any car pushing more than 150bhp... safety first IMO.

I have a friend who drives an e21 who went through quite a few Nankangs in the duration of a month or two. He had what was in my opinion a very mild tire stretch, and I don't like massive amounts of stretch so hopefully you can get an idea of what mild is to me, and the tires did not come into contact with the fenders. I can't remember if it was three tires or four, but he had a few of them fail due to sidewall separation, and he monitors his tire pressures religiously so it was not due to improper inflation over time. I won't be buying them anytime soon.

Makes me laugh about the 'ditch finder' comments
I had them on the Cades (NS2) that I bought for the e90. No they are not a premium tyre so should not be compared to a premium tyre. For a budget tyre they are ok for normal road use. If you drive like a tard or have a very heavy right foot, then they won't do. But they will not see you off the road at their convenience. Funny how people slate Nankang but say Kumho are fine, when they are in the same league, and the Kumhos are no better. Last edited by Mart1000; 02-04-2013 at 09:34 AM.. |

I don't think Nankang are as bad as they used to be, however, for a few extra quid you can get a Falken or something inbetween the Nankang and Conti.....
At the end of the day the tyres are the only contact between you and the road so not worth saving £200 over the life of a tyre!! The cost of a tyre is also minimal compared to how much fuel will cost you in the same period.... |

I had Nankang on a Z4 we had for a short period, as they came with the car. After my wife came home telling me she nearly lost control in the wet. I took the car out and found out exactly what she meant. In the dry the seem OK, defiantly no premium tyre but serve a purpose. In the wet they were awful, changed to Falkens within about 3 days of those events. Now have 4 Nankangs sitting in a shed.
Vreds and Falkens should be the minimum you look at. In terms of Nankang vs Kumho, i driven in friends cars with Kumhos and have to say they have been fine in all weathers. I can only go by my 1 experience with Nankangs; which was bad |

I'm running Hankook S1 Evo 2.. New tyre. Very good and slightly cheaper than the Goodyears etc.
I think I won't get them again only because the rim protection is lacking. |
