5) fabricate a small, stainless, 45-degree angled bracket to mount the reservoir bracket to on the little nub behind the headlights
6) remount the reservoir to the nub+stainless bracket

With the above steps, there's a ton of room for the 3" ID hose to my cone filter in the fender.

The result:
Great idea for the power steering.. I may try something along these lines.. unfortunately when I made my first attempt at the intake, I had no spare car to use to buy parts and I had an obligation that night so I kinda forced the hose in just so I had a working car..

I will revisit this soon..

I did it in two stages.

Stage 1. I bought an extra airbox from another member, preped the airbox and attached the flange. Then I swapped airboxes with a rubber plug from Home Depot inserted into the flange to put the car back on the road.

Stage 2. Figured out what to do with the P.S. bracket, routed hose and filter. Hooked up hose to the flange and done.

My setup. I like it because the hose takes a gradual turn. I think Mr. 5 did it this way also.

Yeah, he did.

I looked into that way, but didn't like the PS reservoir hanging out there by one bolt.

hey rwalker, it looks like you have a small bracket that allows one bolt (Right) from the PSR to be bolted onto the bracket.

Where is the left bolt from the PSR bolted in? a hole in the chassis?

There's a mounting tab connected to the body that has two holes. One of the holes points straight up, the other points forward at a 45 degree angle.

The reservoir bracket uses the straight hole as-is, and my cheesy bracket serves as glue between the reservoir bracket and the slanted hole.

Cool.. currently my air duct to the extra filter is super tight-fitting, so I may revise it using your method. Do you happen to know the screw size to fit in the holes in the body? If not I can probably do some trial and error while at the hardware store..

Don't remember offhand... Probably M8.0, 10-15mm long.

I took the original bolts to Ace, found a nut that fit, then found the rest.

how about attaching some sort of y pipe and taking from the two fog light openings. Would that be any better or would you need an opening in the box for each set of piping?

Here is a question.

I just got a 1M and was looking at doing this. I just installed a AFE filter and scoops and noticed the lid of the stock air box seems pretty closed. instead of adding this filter has anyone tried / some tried making a larger cover?

IE make the cover taller and not taper to the post filter side? I know Dinan's is kind of like that.

Just a thought

Thanks for the link. Was helpful.

Was that the only attempt? That design was missing the filter brace down the center.

I seem to remember Shiv making an attempt at about the same time, but my search only turned up Terry's.
