I'm hoping I didn't order these for no reason. Does anyone know if Koni FSd 2100-4036 struts will work on a 2012 335is? Some people say the suspension was different than a 335i with sport.

The Koni FSD is not like the m-sport suspension. You should have ordered Koni Yellow sport or the Bilstein B8. If you want the same feel that you have now. I'd return the FSD's and look into the shock & struts above. If you want a softer ride, stay with the FSD. You won't be able to corner etc., as well with the FSD.

Koni FSD was my first shock/strut upgrade, they weren't an upgrade, they blow through their travel and provide less damping than oe. I'd exchange them for Koni Sports or Bilsein HD.

My goal here is to add comfort. I live in Tucson, AZ, the roads are horrendous. I?ve heard some people love their FSDs and some don?t. I would just keep the stock struts if I wasn?t going for comfort.

I have them on my ‘11 335is and like them. Definitely reduced the severity of crashing over big potholes and bumps. Only issue I have is that occasionally the car does feel slightly floatier than stock, usually on the highway or when I go over a dip in the road (like much larger/more gradual than a pothole).

If roads there are horrendous what word could I use to describe the streets in Chicago, IL ?

Well, I?ve never been to Chicago honestly, but if I were to compare their roads to their gun violence it would go something like this...Chicago - Roads of cobblestone laced with ieds every 20 meters.

Bottoming out your suspension isn't comfortable. Some ppl buy a marketed part and tell themselves it improved performance or whatever. There's plenty reviews here on fsd's. Just trying to save you money. Let us know how you like them after a year.

And your roads are buffed out compared to a lot of the country. I love hwy 40 from flagstaff to Bakersfield. Set the cc to 120mph and just hum on down the road

Exactly! Roads in AZ are perfect. He might consider different tire aspect ratios.

Really? I had the exact opposite experience with FSD's. They blew through their travel with little to no damping over sharp objects worse than oe. Glad they're working for you.

Go with the Koni Yellow, and up your profile of tire by 5mm. With the Koni Yellow, you can adjust the stiffness etc.

I agree, most of the roads in Arizona are great, especially in Phoenix. Tucson isn't the case though. Most people have said they love their FSDs. But also some people hate them, not a lot of middle ground. I want suspension where after a year my interior isn't rattling and creaking because of all the crashing over bumps, cracks, ect. I'm not looking for suv or Bentley comfort, just something less harsh than stock. Thanks for all the input and experiences.

Koni Sport, I've had them twice and love them! Set to rears to 3/4 turn from full soft and the fronts to 1.25 turns from full soft and enjoy the ride.

I've had Koni FSD's on my e92 for about a year. I am very happy with them. They are still a bit rough in pothole central but overall I'm very pleased.

Unfortunately, my rear strut mounts broke (I'm at just under 100k for a 2007). The shop warned me that the nut was seized and they could not remove the strut without damaging it.

Long story short, I bought a pair of Koni Sports for the rear. So now I will have FSDs in the front and yellow sports in the rear.

Is this remotely advisable? Should I get the front sports to match? What does anyone think of this calamity?

Personally, I'd probably change out the front to Koni Yellow's. This way you can adjust all 4 instead of just the rear. At 100k, you should replace all the surrounding hardware, strut bearings, bump stops, gaskets etc.

We usually recommend Koni Yellow, a lot of people are/were disappointed with FSD on this platform. At least with the yellow they are adjustable and similarly priced.

No. Unless you just don't care about things like handling and ride. Used shocks on one end, and new, different shocks on the other...not likely to be a good combination.

The "old" Koni FSDs have somewhere between 5 and 10k miles, which can hardly be described as old in their normal lifespan. My question was not concerning the old and new, as I don't care since they're both quite new. My question is about the difference between FSDs and Sports. How different are they really?

Anyway, I'll probably get the Sports for the front, just not rushing to do it unless it's a safety issue.

Just put FSD's on with eibach pro springs. They're amazing if you have it set up properly.

Your experience sounds like you under sprung the dampers. If you get the correct spring rates, and also get the links on the sways correct this should not be an issue.

In Seattle we live in a city wide construction zone and our streets are worse than a bad neighborhood in Newark (I used to live in Manhattan). Properly sprung and properly matched with the correct durometer bumps, they are great dampers.

Suspension is a system, too few people treat it that way.
