M3 Rep Fog Lights Delete
What a pain in the balls...
First of all you have to cut the plastic brackets that the fog lights mount to. It's a lot of work to get the openings to be flush and even from where the brackets were. It's kind of hard to explain, but if you take this project on you'll see what I'm talking about. I did all the finishing work with a razor blade, slowly shaving the plastic until it was uniform. It would have been a lot easier with a dremel, but I don't have one. Once that's all done and looking pretty, its onto fitting the ducts... The OEM m3 bumper ducts need to be trimmed a lot for this to work. And even after that, they don't hug the bumper opening perfectly. I ended up using zip ties strung together to get a snug fit. After getting the ducts to sit flush back to mounting the bumper. That's easy, but the part that is annoying is how the ducts still push up against the fender liners. Obviously, with more trimming this wouldn't occur, but it's not that straight forward. you can't just trim and trim until they don't push up against the fender liners, because you'll be able to see them hacked up once mounted. I guess I could've gone and cut a little bit more off, but after two days of working on this and losing daylight both times, I just wanted to get this done and have my car back. So, I used more zip ties to pull the fender liners in so they wouldn't rub against my wheels. I am lowered on H&R sports, so there isn't much room between the tire and fender liner. Onto the shitty pictures to get an idea of how it looks. I'm satisfied with how it looks, but it was the most frustrating mod I've ever done on any of my cars... |

Looks clean. Nicely done. I thought about doing the same thing for mine, but Long (L of LTBMW) basically said the same thing you did - it sucks and it'll take a ton of time. So instead I got some 8000K HID fogs and I love 'em. There's plenty of fog early in the mornings here in SoCal near the beach.

I did the same thing and it was painful. I used double sided tape and put three screws on the top of the M3 ducts to hold them in place. Definitely did a lot of trimming on the ducts to work. Totally worth it IMO:-)

Dang you all... now I'm thinking maybe I'll do this and combine the install with a new intercooler?
Looks great.

M3 reps use 9006 bulbs for the fogs. Here's a good thread to reference... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=485622

Very nice!
The fog lights in the M3 rep bumper are absolutely hideous. There is a version of the M3 rep bumper that includes air ducts instead of the fog lights. Not requiring using and modifying oem M3 air ducts. |
