------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys,

I'm in the plannin phase of doing this years big meet. I figured I'd post up and see what everyone thinks. We can either have it at Bear Mountain like the last 2 years or do something a little different and host it at a dealership (cough cough...).

This then leads to another question....is 90 cars enough? Thats how many we had last year. I'd like to get something HUGE. Hence why I've declared this years MegaMeet BMW FEST 2009.

If you know of a place that can easily hold 100+ cars that is better than my 2 suggestions please feel free to comment. Also, I'd like to have sponsors this year. If you know anyone that can help out with this that would be awesome as well.

The pics from Bimmfest out west got my mouth watering and I'd like to return the favor to the Cali guys!!

I'm thinking either June or July for this to set it up right.

POST UP

No nonsense please.....lets keep this ON TOPIC

This is an incredible idea and its about time we had some movement in this direction. I am consistantly jealous of the Bimmerfest on the west coast.

I'll keep my eyes open for potential areas however keep this going strong! Great idea!

I'm definitely down for this meet, barring any work/vacations.

Not too sure how many sponsors there would be, since most of the vendors are out on the west coast..

Maybe SupremePower can start, as a sponsor for this event and setting up a tent

I want sponsors from around the country to come to this event. Sponsors from everywhere went to CA, why not come to Bimmerfest East?

Lets make this happen.

IF you are part of other BMW forums please post there as well.

piscataway high schools lot in the back or "green acres" is big enough to hold 200-300 cars as well...actually green acres could hold more like 500-600 cars...

hows the locale around Green Acres? Would we need permits from them? Any idea how that works over there?

Lets make this happen.

IF you are part of other BMW forums please post there as well.
Can you be more specific on what exactly are the sponsors supposed to do?

Usually, when I was organizing events and looked for sponsors, we'd have to tell them what exactly is being expected and of course ,they would ask me what are they supposed to do. More importantly, do they need to sponsor by cash or just simply a presence there?

If it is just simply their presence, at a parking lot, on a Sunday or some non-working day, it is possible to just ask local shops to bring out some tables, some banners, with a tent and just be there at the event.

Now, they probably wont have "merchandise" or all those nice/cool booth displays/what nots... but its a start?

I can almost assure you that no sponsors will show up if you just post up on BMW forums. Trust me, we might get 1 or 2 if we're lucky (and that 1 or 2 probably includes supremepower. lol).

Anyway, a plan would be good as in

Location
Time
Projected turnouts
what is expected
plan of action with local authorities

just to name a few off the top of my head.

With all those information sorted out, then maybe we can approach local dealers who are close to the meet location and bring a booth/table/tent or 2 to the location..

we just have to sell them the idea that their presence at this event "could" turn into a potential customer list, which would turn into real dollar revenue.

If we just ask and no benefit being laid out, well, i think we'd have hard time getting anyone.

People dont want to think, so we have to think and lay it out to them so that they can "visualize"..

just an idea.

This is like chicken and egg question. If we dont have a big turnout, no sponsors would come. But if no sponsors would come, its hard to have a big turnout. So, lets get plans together, manage this, and then we can get a few sponsor who are at least interested so that we can market them to the forum/bmw enthusiasts to come and say, we will have ABC, XYZ sponsors, good event, come out and enjoy.

Something like that.

Great idea. The closer to the center of the mid-atlantic area the better. For example, in Frederick Maryland there is a single A baseball stadium that probably has 500 parking spaces and hosts events.

Something like that would be huge. Of course the city owns it and would have to have discussions with them.

I'm sure there are lots of staduims like that with large parking lots. Just an idea.
