enclosing injen intake

the other night i took honesty 30min of my time and some sheetmetal. i completely enclosed the intake so no more hot air is robbing power. i will post pics tonight or tmrw. i think this will help out everyone with this intake. because its pretty much completely open. after i installed it i went out for a rather aggressive drive shifts at 7k and came back 10 min later. now remeber i drove for about 35 min b4 i took it out engine really hot and so was the filter. when i was done the filter was cool.

items needed:
1. sheet metal
2. sheet metal cutter
3. sheet metal screws
4. rubber airtight sealing strip
5. 2 heinekens

Looks like a decent idea and seemingly one that works. The fact that the filter(s) were cool to the touch after the retrofit was installed shows a definite vulnerability to heat soak without the heatshield being in place.

Nice job!

who is that question directed to? i smoke ciggs if you really wanted to know. and yea it might not be the best looking enclosure but it works as good as any one that comes with it. in this case u cant buy an enclosure for the intake so thats where i custom make one and it works amazing. my intake is never warm after an aggressive drive. which means no hot air is being sucked in to the engine. so on that note elaborate on what r u smoking?

Why not test the IATs using the BT software. I sincerely doubt you will see an ounce of difference on IATs because of this, but the testing could show for sure.

haha you mang. I guess A for effort, but you just took the best looking intake and made it look like trash. It would be a good idea if you got custom made shields and didn't just bend up some aluminum.

i see what you mean... simply if i really cared more about the looks of something under my hood.. i would p[ay the extra. also this was a temporary test to see how it works.. and if i am going to spend a few hundred on a fabrication job. it works 10 times better than it looks..

That still leaves you with a loss of power. Cause holy crap does that look like a POS. Why dont you run some dryer hose up to it and make it ram air? Twist tie it in place?
