335 Valve Cleaning - Deal!
Following all the talk about valve cleaning I decided to spend some time looking for someone in the London / Southampton area and have got lucky!
TWG Automotive Unit 14 St. Georges Industrial Estate Wilton Way Camberley Surrey GU15 2QW Tel: 01276 22733 They usually do Mini's because apparently they are a lot worse but have dabbled with the N54 engines. I've agreed a fixed price of £280 inc VAT for E90post members. If you want it done give them a call and say your from E90post and they'll hook you up..... |

I've got a couple of warranty bits I want done first locally but will be booking it in with them shortly, they are 70 miles away from me so requires a bit of logistical planning rather than just dropping it off and picking it up after work in the week....

Interestingly he did say the price difference is crazy he knows that on Mini's prices range from £150 to £600. I've got a to do list on my car and this is about half way down so might not be this year by the time I get to it. I will be doing it at some stage and will report back! I thought I'd share now regardless as he seemed very genuine had good feedback on Mini forums and most importantly was reasonably priced!! |

Very Helpful, I am on 42K miles now and was thinking about it - im not that far from them either. With all my mods it would be stupid not to invest me thinks. Wondering how long it takes also.

To take the entire inlet off. Prep, blast, clean and refit for 280 is unreal. Imo they either arent actually doing it or they are going to gonout of business very soon at those rates. Id like to see beforw and after pics for proof before heading down there and pics of thier equipment. Thats like farrari selling you a 458 for 70k.

As far as I'm aware they are using walnut blasting and as an independent not inclined to charge the earth for something that if you have the tools and a process for is fundamentally not that hard. I think we pay over the odds for most services when it comes to our cars so when something is actually reasonable we don't believe it!
I'll be the guinea pig when I get the time and will make sure they take before and after pictures...... Watch this space! |

My mate sammy in the states does it for $250 and takes him a couple of hours. He has done over 50 cars and has the inlet mani off & prepped in less than an hour. He says if you know what you are doing, it is really basic. The initial cost of buying the BMW tool is expensive, but easily recouped with a couple jobs. So for 2-3 hours work... It isn't bad at all. |

So if they are cleaning the head in situ. I can't see how it's a thorough clean.

That's a good price. I just paid £255 for walnut blasting at Vines Bmw Redhill. That's 6 valves on the 3ltr 325i However. the inlet was already off to fit my new HPFP so would have been more if done at a different time. 2.5hrs I was told the job takes.

I've done minis with the BMW blaster in under 2 hours and am going to do my 335 myself shortly.I recon it will take 2 hours tops as 335 manifold comes off fairly easy. The minis suffer from. 'Super knocking' due to the carbon build up and pop and bang at high revs.Cleaning cures this.Hsve never experienced the same issues on a 335i yet tho. What are the symptoms on the 6cyl? |
