Replacing the iPhone4 - what to get next?
I am out of contract on my iPhone4 with Orange. It has been a great phone and the longest I have kept a handset before. I like the simplicity of it but I maybe fancy a change.
I saw the new Samsung Note II "phablet" the other day and was really impressed with it, although it is quite big. Will it fit in a pocket?? Now just wondering if I should go away from Apple. I don't really need a phone in the car anymore as I will hardly drive it. I am also starting work in London in the summer and reckon that a 4G smartphone could be great and save me from having to get broadband in my weekday flat. Have also seen that Orange do a 4G mobile device which creates a local 4G broadband network so I can pair my IPad on the move (train etc) this is £25/month for 8Gb of data a month. So What's the view on the Samsung Note II? Should I stay with Apple and get the 5?? |

I don't think that you'll be that impressed with the 5 over your 4.
I'm out of contract with Orange EE and can't find anything that I want to sink my money into over a 24 month contract. I've unblocked my IP and am using a £12.50 tesco sim on a monthly rolling contract until something interesting comes onto the market. Because I don't want a 'phablet',I'm seriously looking at what the 5s or 6 has to offer... |

The Galaxy S4 and iphone 6 will be along shortly if rumours are true. 3 months or so.
The S3 LTE is already better than the iphone5 in my opinion. The Nexus 4 is great but no 4g. The Note 2 is great but too big for a phone. |

I am in the same boat with a 4S, I'd really like to go to a Samsung S4 when its released but Apples features between all my devices keep me tied to them

How do you unlock an iPhone? And can you port your number? |

If you contact Orange EE they will unlock it as long as your still in contract with them.

I did both-Firstly,contact Orange on 150 and ask to unblock. It costs iro £22 and orange then request the unblock via Apple. This takes a few days to sort out. In the mean time, contact orange on their portability team on 0800 376 2285 or 150 and they will provide you with your PAC code. You have 30 days to use the code. You just need to insert the Tesco micro sim into your phone, connect to iTunes and that's it. Its really easy to sort out and like you,I don't see the point in paying £35 to Orange! |

I was out of contract, but in the long run is definitely worth it against £35 a month. Helps with resale value as well. |

I got a Nexus 4 and am very happy with it. No 4g isnt an issue as im not that bothered by it - esp as the current phones wont work on the Vodafone 4g network when that is released as it works on a diff signal wave - and wil be significantly faster then EE with better coverage.
If i was looking to buy now - id be sorely tempted by the Samsung G4 when that comes out on March 14th ... the rumours about the tech in this phone is insane! It will track your eye movements so when u get to the bottom of the page the website will scroll down automatically! Apple are playing catch-up now as they just dont seem to have the 'wow' tech, tho as above pointed out - as an intergrated toolset they work seamlessly, but commit u to buying higher priced items - and no.. not a hater - have been an ipod owner since 2003 .... and macbook pro is my weapon of choice, but i dont see Apple as being at the forefront of change at the moment - more reselling with minor cosmetic update.

i do a plan with orange, 10.50 a month, cheapest they offer - had it for a few years now.
then just buy an unlocked phone when I want to upgrade. this time around I bought the new Sony Experia Z, which has been great so far and I much prefer it to the iphone that I had previously. |

Sony K800 for me!!
Does what I want it to (it's a phone, don't use it for anything else) £24 for 50 minutes a month. Bargain as I don't use that much air time. And no, it's not £24 per month, that was a one-off payment about 8 years ago. 50 minutes per month for life. Don't see those contracts around any more! Mike |

Did anyone ever confirm if the lightening port worked with the 30 pin adapter if your cars got 6FL? It's been holding me off buying a 5 if I'm honest but if the new iPhone is on its way I might wait if it'll work in the car?

My wife bought me the iPhone 5 as a birthday present. I was quite happy with the 4 but the 5 is a lot LIGHTER and the camera is fab!
Not to bothered about 4G, I've just switched to 3 on a £12.80 all-you-can-eat plan. Cannot believe some of the download speeds am getting on 3!! A few friends have Android phones, to be honest iOS and Android are so similar these days. The fact iCloud let's me sync my calendar/contacts/mail/music across my phone/iPad/laptop/desktop with no fuss is enough to keep me with Apple My iPhone 5 works fine with lightning adaptor for my PureHighway DAB/USB car thingy....no idea if it works with the official BMW USB interface?? |
