Anyone purchased one. I can get 12000 miles and 12 months for 1800$. Certain seals are starting to leak...

Going by USAA experience alone and their problem solving, it's safe to assume they will fix almost anything without hassle.

Sounds expensive, unless you mean it's an out-of-warranty car. BMW is about $1000 more than that and it added 3 yrs. and 50k. Most people don't do a 7/100 and do a 6/100, so that would be even cheaper.

Interesting that I just bought a 7 year 100k miles for a Honda Accord for $799.

Speaks volumes about the repair experience on these cars ......

The downside is that you have to drive a Honda. I understand Porsche extended warranties are expensive too.

It's on their website.

Yes the car is out of warranty. There is a form, you enter the info and it gives you a quote.

I thought everyone has already agreed 3rd party insurance is complete crap? Is USAA that much more reputable?

You are not familiar with USAA then. They have 3 catagories of cars for warranty. They dont price warranty based on the car itself. They have your basic cars, nissan, honda, mazda, etc. This is a set price regardless of the car minus the exceptions.

Then you have your luxury cars, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Cadillac, etc. This is set price regardless of the car minus the exceptions.

Then you have the exception list where they specify the model of the car and they wont offer warranty for it. Example of one is the GT-R or an m3.

That is how they do there warranty, nothing more, nothing less.

USAA is top notch when it comes to service and making their customers happy...I haven't used their warranty service yet but if you base it on their insurance, the money spent is well worth it. I've used my insurance, unfortunately...all three are not my fault, and they've been quick about getting me back on the road and having my money within a week or two. Totaled an XB that I bought for $14k new...drove it for 4 years and put 80k + miles on it. USAA still gave me $11k for it.

Thats b/c the probability of your Honda requiring a non wear/tear repair for 7 years is really low. *Get a refund*

I know what the person you're responding to is saying....Honda is $799, for something that costs $2800 on a 335i. Is the 335i 3X as problematic? Doubtful. Since I've had my extended warranty, I HAVE HAD ZERO ISSUES. I now have about 11 mos. of the extended warranty left.

imho it's the stories on this forum like, "Gosh, I just got new turbos, water pump, and everything else that would have totaled $10k! So glad I had an extended warranty!" These sway the rest of us into buying protection, seeing that humans are risk averse. You don't often see people posting, "Dang! Spent several thousand on an extended warranty, never claimed a single thing!" People are embarrassed to admit they made a bad financial decision.

I will put this out there--I got a $499 protection package, and had two dings fixed, and one rock chip. That works out to $166.33 per incident, which is more than it would have cost to pay out-of-pocket. I paid $390 for a 5 yr. tire protection plan, and never got a flat. Now my extended warranty from BMW is 2/3 consumed, and I have never had a single claim.

hey, this is my first BMW, so I'm willing to admit that I wasted a lot of money on this "insurance" BS.

True. They tried to sell me that on my 1998 Nissan. If they had covered it for 14 yr./225k, I would have had zero claims. Nothing ever broke on the car until year 15, and that was the starter motor. I put a new one in myself and it broke in 2 1/2 mos. Now I have to reinstall a replacement which was free under a lifetime warranty.

1,800 for 12 months is a good rate, i recently got 24 for $3800...sure some people will get insurance and not use it..I happpened to get over $12k in free repairs on the original 100k extended warranty I got for $1,880 so I figured based on the constant valve cover gasket leaks..an evap leak..and the fact that our cars are held together by aluminium bolts as my reason to get the insurance..I don't have the tools and equipment to service my car myself or I would self insure and I don't like to haggle with indy mechanics or the dealership..

I got my extended warranty through Mercury insurance for 5 years/75K miles for $1900 with $0 deductible in 2009. I already got the money back. It seems warranty rates are gone up a lot in last 2-3 years.

So my friend got screwed over with warranties, when it his A/C system developed a leak the insurance company refused to pay for it. Apparently because he did his own oil changes himself and not at a authorized mechanic shop which breached contract. I'm kinda scarred of that happening as I plan to do all maintenance in house.

Whoa, that sounds a little suspect! Did your friend keep receipts from his oil changes? (Oil, filters, etc...) Many DIY'ers have issues with extended warranty companies and dealerships regarding routine maintenance. As long as you keep good records and follow manufacturer service intervals your friend's claim shouldn't have been denied per Magnuson-Moss Act.

Base on reviews seems to be pretty good. One thing thought the price does increase based on the mileage you are at and it increases by a good but. Getting estimates on my 135 there was a 2000 diffrence based on inputting diffrent mileage
